My daughter is 16 months old, I used to read stories to her almost every night before she sleeps, she pretty likes the stories I chose.

And thanks for your book recommendations.  Are those are available for order via rainboat? They look pretty good!

It's good that your girl likes your choice.  Are you a full-time mom? Read a-loud helps her growth and so I did.  My son is fond of reading what I have to keep looking goodies.

Check out these author what your girl might like. Most are available in library what you may save a bit, like most BK moms did cos lots of spending to raise a child.
Greedy person like me prefers good titles home where my son can read it over and over anytime.  :wink:

Hi salami:

I'm a working mom, so very busy playing with her after work.  But I try to keep reading story to her every night.  I start to see the great thing about story reading when one day, she could response correctly to a question I spoke out that was relating to the story, which I didn't expect so but just want to make the story time more interactive.  Amazing!  Kids are very clever.

How old is your child then?  Yes agreed , going to library is a good habit and a great way to save our money.  But I do want to keep stocks of those great all time classic stories.  BTW, are those books found in preschooler corner of the Causeway Bay Central Library? And will those be found in GZ or Shenzhen bookcity?

我個bb15個月, 不過我教幼兒園的, 好多時都要講故事. 我見Eric Carle的書小朋友好喜歡, 內容簡單,佢地好容易學到單字. 我個女太細, 都唔知佢明唔明, 不過我喜歡, 所以成日講比佢聽.

daisy: 我囝囝3+, 我其實同你一樣自他小時就開始同佢睇書, 那時我是全職媽媽, 仲自制flashcards, 又home montessori, 乜都試下, 囝囝最大興趣都係reading, 依家攪到一屋都係書

我之前都有上過大陸書城逛逛, 見你在另一thread 問tips
書城真係平好多, 唯獨你要接受簡體中文, 有些中英對照的, 記住買大出版社出品, 否則英文翻譯冇保證, 那時我隨手都見譯錯, 都成年幾前喇

而我獨孤一味英文書, 囝囝讀國際學校冇中文, 在大陸買書的話, 睇Picture Books都ok, 但reference book我就攪唔掂... d 技術性名詞, 地方譯音都怪怪的, 我睇唔掂, 仲要即時傳譯英文, 想慳都唔得

雖然我鼓勵家長去圖書館, 我其實好小去 因為我好容易起敏感, 會好痕架; 所以都係買書多, 差不多每星期我都同囝囝去書店打書釘, 可坐成兩個鐘多唔幫襯

Can u share with us the books type and materials (i.e dVD or VCD) that you would use in kinder? Which level of class u're in charge of?  I'm kinder want to know how's the local school teaching english?

我在院中什麼書也講, 年紀小的我會講 "奇奇系列" 英文叫"Bubbles" 有時講中文, 有時講英文, 小朋友會加深印象.2-4歲會講Eric Carle的書, 亮亮系列, Ladybird等等....我想小朋友接觸多些不同的書, 所以什麼書都會講. 不過我本身對有動物的書有偏好.

我其實0-6歲都有機會接觸, 我喜歡CD, 教完一首歌, 做些字咭, 圖咭玩玩遊戲都唔錯. vcd同dvd唔係唔好, 不過少互動, 對唔係太會說話的bb學說話效果會差少少, 反而你日日同佢講野, 佢學得快些又開心d. 我有時都會比disney的vcd比我個女看, 不過只限我冇時間同佢玩時, 我老公都唔喜歡佢看電影, 怕佢影響對眼, 同話對個腦唔係太好. 始終都係多些互動好d

對, 現在是over-time work媽媽
我嘗試用GD's, 可是我並沒有持之以恆, 因為自囝囝長大, 大概可觀察他是那一類學習型, 我唔想為閃而閃, 令願見招刪招, 我唔急著要他認字, 寫字; 希望引發佢學習意欲, self-learning skill, 創意思維訓練, 我覺得montessori 概念較合心水
