CKY 和浸小, 你們會選那間?

聽聞CKY今年暫借蘇屋村一間舊小學渡過二至三年.  而浸小須然有新校舍, 但今年是第一年開始, 我都心大心小. 浸小是否較接近傳統Syllibas, 並且亦配合中五會考課程.

That's my comment some days before:


PKC- much cheaper, no record, Mandarin good, English still need observe, Admin. very strong since they put lots of material on web well before they start the school. Very likely they will not take IB since it is a very expensive system(if they branch out a stream taking IB, student not in that class will be labelled). In conclusion, student will enter back to traditional system when they are in P4 onwards, I guess.

Wong Kam Fai- Support by HKBU, will not take IB(very likely since student will need to path to HKBU). English should not be problem but don't expect all are NET. Mandarin I expect middle. School fee in between. No pass record and admin. seems not well prepared since their recruitment still going on. Hardware almost finished. Also will back to traditional system from P4 onwards (I guess) in order to have brand name.

CKY - Operate for several years, Mandarin and English(by NET) at least I satisfied (but don't expect all student will speak English during recess). Student will not afraid of foreigners. Will need to move out and in the existing campus for two years duration. School fee most expensive among them and even more on grade 6 onwards. They will and must take IBD in future(student will not enter F1 allocation process and no HKCEE). Admin still need to improve.

That my comments and you can choose by yourself as depending on individual background and the character of your child.

Thanks for yr comment.   As a whole, I like CKY more as they have better platform for language to child.  Yesterday I went to their temp campus at Sham Sui Po close to Bus stop station.  Seems a bit small and old.  I heard my friend told me that they might stay there for two to three years.  Will you also thinking of their enviornment too? HKBU has a bit campus but no NET and all local teacher for both Mandarin and English.  I am a bit greedy so that I can't make up my mind yet.

If you want new and big campus, native English and Mandarin teachers, IB cirriculum, good brand name etc., you can consider applying the new ESF private school at Ma On Shan - Renaissance College.  It has all of these.  Fee is of course more expensive than CKY.

They have daily Mandarin class, account for around 20% classes of total.  It is a through train IB school.

I think apart from the campus, it is more important to consider which system you like your kid to study.  RC uses all IB system, CKY takes ICGSE and IBD, while Baptist uses local HK system.

Can you let me know what the difference between IB
and IBD ?

I'm just called to RC, it's seems their school fee is
very expensive and the staff is impolite.

IB is a cirriculum including Primary Year Program, Middle Year Program and IB Diploma Program (IBD).  So IBD is only for F.6 to 7 students (pre-U).  You can know more details through ibo website: www.ibo.org

Studying IB is expensive as IBO charges fees on the school for their programs.

For me, I will look at vision and personality of the principal and teachers of a school.  Honestly I seldom see very polite and knowledgeable receptionists in schools, most of them are quite rude, maybe they receive too many enquiries all the time!!

You are welcome.  I just have to learn more as I need to search secondary schools and primary schools for 2 kids and now there are so many types of new schools and new systems!  Hope you can share your opinions with us too!

Dear amandalyy2002,

To me hardware is just a decoration, of course it will affect the student(parents?) self satisfaction and cause inconvenience for using sport facilities. Even with the existing campus, I feel comfortable since it did better than my primary school a lot already. For the temp. school, I also feel Ok since they can contact the real society in some occasion and back to a confined area for study. As long as they are not free to wondering around after school(all sent back by school bus), I see no harm.

Which grade your child is studying in cky?  Will they have so many curriculum after school every day or Saturday?
Will they have sufficient teachers to teach on each subject?

For myself, I chose CKY and gave up Baptist.
Yes, the temporary campus is quite old. However, personally, I believe that the software is more important than the hardware.
