我想女女讀完f.5後申請英國交流生計劃, 比較AFS OR EF,
哪一間會比較好? 我想知道交流生計劃完結後的跟進,哪一間會做得好些?知道的請給意見,謝謝

I am an AFSer went to Australia in 1989, AFS is non profit making organization.
I also worked in EF for a few years.
Quentin0227, are you an EF student or your worked in EF?

I know AFS and EF are also running intercultural exchange program. But what different between AFS and EF of the handle way in their program?

My daughter is an exchange student of AFS this year, and now she is in Germany. From her experience, she fits very well in her host family. However, AFS is a Non-profit organisation, so the host family is volunteer witn no pay but I know EF will pay the host family.

AFS has a more detailed selection process organized by the returnees and the volunteers. they treasure more on the development of the students... they focus on fitting the students into the real life in order to experience the culture. above all, the hosting families have union and helpful network in the other AFS country.

EF has more activities for the students. they focus on the actual experience, they got travel, visits and outings. more likely, a tourist to the new country. the realtionshp with the host family would be like a home stay.

of course, the experience would all depend on the initiative of the students.

these are what i feel after being an exchange student with AFS and have some EF friends.

我個人認為選擇第三種語言做交流國是最好. 因為交流機構之官方語言是英語, 而且交流與其他交流生說的都是英語. 所以在交流其間英語仍然是常用語言之一. 再者交流生必須熔合當地生活, 所以他們會學多一種語言.

致於你說銜接繼續升學, 現時很多國家(包括europe), 大學都是用英語.

最重要是, 很多人都不知道参加海外交流生計劃的該年之成績是不會有認可的. 因為交流生所面對的事情有很多, 不可能按常規課程讀書, 所以學校一般都不會證明文件給你.

ok, 第三種語言國家是指:

例如德文, 便到德國交流
例如法文, 便到法國交流
例如意大利文, 便到意大利交流
例如西班牙文, 便到西班牙或南美拉丁國家(Argentina, chile, 巴西etc)交流.

完全同意，我都明白交換生可以係出外讀書的踏腳石，但係就好似無咗個意義了。可以考慮第三語言的國家！

如果想到美國升學, 不妨考慮美國交流生, 但德國或荷蘭都不錯, 因可多學一種語言嘛!!!

Hi,

My daughter is going to Finland for exchange this summer (also through AFS). I wish it is her warm up trip, then, when she finishes HKCEE, I wish to send her aboard as exchange student. What impact will it be when she studies F.6 here in Hong Kong. Can somebody share this ?
