Hi Grapes! Of course I remember you! How are you and your children?  My son is enjoying his Y1 school life very much so at Bradbury.  He can't wait to go to the fair.  I think the game where you can throw wet sponges at teachers would be fun to watch.  I will help out selling pizzas, come get some if your children likes them.

Dear Gab,

My daughter is happy with Bradbury but she thinks that the English standard is comparatively higher than her old school, especially the reading comprehension. I need to go through the passage with her before answering questions. I also ask her to read more English books in order to brush up her standard. For other subjects, she finds Mathematics and Mandarin very easy and could finish the exercises assigned by teacher within very short timeframe.

I also watched my girl's assembly two weeks ago and find that there are so many expatriates in this school. I think Chinese is a minority, do you think so?

How's your son? Does he enjoy to study in this school?

Hi Grapes,
Yes, Bradbury seems to have fewer Chinese students than some other ESF schools, like SJS, KS or QBS.  In my son's class, there are only 7 with Chinese surnames out of 30, and a couple of them are Japanese/Korean+Chinese mix. I really like the environment there.

My son sure enjoys going to school each day and when he comes home he can't wait to tell us the new things he learned or tried at school.  It didn't take him long to make new friends. We see his English reading and writing skills improved a lot in just 3 months.  We are also very happy to learn that Bradbury is now a IB PYP Candidate.

My only concern is he is more interested in playing than finishing his lunch / snack.

Dear Gab,

Since my girl's teacher comes from New Zealand, my daughter needs to take some time to get used to her accent. Now she has gradually settled down to the school environment and made some friends there. To enable her to integrate into Bradbury's school life, I have also arranged her to learn Clarinet during lunch hour every Wednesday. Hope this helps.

By the way, what is the homework load in Grade 1? Mine has only got one piece of reading comprehension every Friday. Seems quite relaxed!

Hi Grapes:
My son takes home 3-4 books to read per week and have homework to do once a week, mainly drawing about the new poem learned and write simple words to describe.
They don't need to bring home tonnes of homework each day but they do lots of work during class time, like learning to read and write, math and working on creative projects.  During the last parents consultation, his teacher showed me all the worksheets he did in class and I'm impressed by his effort!
Which year is your daughter studying?
