Hi!  SPCCPS parents.  Today is our kids's first day of school.  I have few questions and hope that some parents would kindly offer their help.

1) Are students allowed to stay in the classrooms during the two recesses?

2) Any idea if classteacher has already assigned their seating arrangement in class?

3)  As all the kids don't know each other, wondering how the classteacher will facilitate them to get familiar with each other?

4) Have your child share with you what have they done today?  My boy just said he not yet get use to the new school life and doesn't sound very excited nor having fun.

Thanks in advance for sharing.

Hi, let me share some ideas:

(1) the students are allowed to stay in the classroom. My boy said they're not allowed to go to the playground yet, so he stayed in the classroom to finish his snack.
(2) for the seating plan, teachers mostly based on their height and need to observe them a few days before final decision. It's better not to put too talkative/ passive ones in the same group, right?

(3) haha... they'll know the others very quickly, don't worry! In the first few days, the teachers must have lots of logistic things and training to do.

(4) My boy said they went to the hall, the headteacher, some teachers and pupils did some sharing and talking on the stage (he said it last nearly half the school day); then they had some training of lining up, knowing the numbers of the stairs and returning notice. Not many things done.

My boy was quite happy, especially his yummy sandwich during recess! HAHA! Don't worry much, I'm sure they can be tuned in very quickly.

Thx limlimcat for your sharing. Agreed that we don't have to worry too much. It's because there is no orientation for the kids together with parents before the school term actually began, so I have very little knowledge on the school practice & routine.

My boy complained that we didn't prepare enough snacks for his two recessess. That can be easily solved

Besides, he said the music teacher has asked them to sing already (select for choir member).

Wish all P1 kids have a happy and healthy school life at SPCC.

(1). Can stay in class. But most of the students like to go out immediately during recesses because of too boring. My daughter said the recess end, they have to go back to the classroom & can not play anymore....

(2). Has assigned the seat according to their height & class number wor

(3). My daughter knew 4 new classmates as of yesterday.

(4). I told her that the class teacher also gave me homework. One of them is to drop down a few points of your school life everyday. Class teacher will call me from time to time to check my homework. That's why I bought a note book and pretend to do my home everynight with her. From that, I knew that she has Choir assesment, 朗誦 assesment, instruement assesment...... and other small pieces from her memory....

Hope everyone has a wonderful p.1 life in SPCC.

Are there any parents were informed that their kids are being selected to attend the coming Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival? or can we join the Festival through School if not selected?

Hi! Nice to meet you here. My boy is also in P.1 this year.

Anybody has idea when the students will change to winter uniform? Mid or end Nov? Is there a period when they can wear either the summer or the winter uniform?

Probably they may wear either the summer or the winter uniform from 15 Nov, and to wear the winter uniform from 22 Nov this year.
