Teen Explorer?

My son joined it with his schoolmates last summer holiday. He told me not to join it anymore but he also told me some interesting experiences. I think your boys like sport, it is not too hard and quite good.

Don't worry, the organization will give you a handbook. It will state what you should bring and special notes.

My son felt too hard only. If your sons like sports, it will be very interesting. They have to jump from pier to sea. Life-jacket will be provided.

The weather is much nicer in Easter than summer.  Summer is simply too hot.
You don't really need to buy 100% listed in their brochure.

Many thanks to Easy and Rattie’s information and endorsement.  My younger boy joined this programme during the past few days.  He found it interesting and exciting especially jumping into the sea from the pier.  He told me he was the first one who volunteered for the first jump.

Although the weather was not so good, he gained a lot of new experience and did a good reflection to what he learned and achieved in the training programme.  I would like to recommend this training programme for those who like new challenges and team work.

Tommy

ac602,

The Teen Explorer programme focus on four areas:  Teamwork, Caring, Independence and Skills.

The activities include jumping into the sea from the pier, camping, cooking, treasure hunting, hiking by map-reading and very limited guidance, rock-climbing, canoeing, sharing and reflection etc.

These activities are quite challenging for young boys and girls.  As long as your boy is participative and wants to get something from the training, it’s good for him.  It doesn’t matter whether he is 細膽 or not and confident or not.  Very often, being not confident is only a habit or merely a “label”.  When you put him into a new environment, meeting new people, doing new things, he will dare to do a change.

My son told me some members really scared of jumping into the sea.  A boy even pretended not able to swim in order not to jump.  But, the game rule was those who had jumped into the sea could not come up until all ten members jumped into the sea.  Then, those who were floating in the water had to encourage those standing on the pier.  Eventually, all jumped, and all could swim well in the sea.  After the first jump, all became excited and enjoyed their second jump, third jump and even asking for more.

That’s the change.

In the final day, all members needed to reflect and share what they achieved and whether they deserved a small pin which symbolized their achievements.  By doing these, I do believe you son will find his strengths.

Tommy
