Normally, we can see the website of most schools and we know they are authorised or IB candidate schools. But some schools may classify it as confidential unless you are the parents of their students. I can't see the point to cover those info and should be transparent and open to public.
I did some research in IBO website - "How to become a IB World School" and find the following:
Candidate schools
Schools that are preparing to be authorized are known as "candidate schools".
If you don't know whether your kids' school is a "candidate school", ask IBO regional office as follow.
Asia-Pacific
IB Asia-Pacific

You can write a email, you need to state the HK school name and also the academic program, PYP and or MYP and or IBDP. They will respond to you the school is a candidate school or not and the status. They replied to me within 24 hours, you know the result and you can make your judgement about those IB approach schools and you can take some remedial action if necessary.
I hope this can help parents to clarify IB approach school is going through the authorization process or not from the official source and not just from hearsays of different forums. Also, IBO also addresses a candidate school not necessary will pass the assessment and can last for years as candidate school, only authorised schools are listed in the website.
