青年事務委員會的研究發現，本港青年的閒暇活動主要是上網、看電視及逛街，超過兩成人每日上網三至五小時，較少參與群體活動，令社交能力下降，削弱搵工能力。失業失學的雙失青年中，超過半數有中五程度，兩成人更擁有大學學位。委員會將舉辦不同類型的活動，鼓勵青少年關心社會及積極參與社會事務。

該會委託嶺南大學進行《香港青年發展指標》研究，在二○一○年尾訪問約五千二百名十五至廿四歲青少年，了解他們的生活、價值觀和競爭力等範疇。結果發現，四成半受訪者求職時，以興趣為首要考慮；受訪青少年失業率有上升趨勢，在二○○九年，青少年失業人口達四萬五千人，較對上一年多逾一萬三千人，低學歷青少年面對較嚴重的就業競爭。
                                                                        
研究又發現，分別有逾一成受訪青少年沒有明確生活目的，以及不明白人生意義；青少年抗逆力亦一般，對自己的英語能力欠缺信心。
                                       
生活個人化 社交能力薄弱          

青年事務委員會主席陳振彬表示，現今青少年生活消閒化、個人化，鮮有參與社交活動，影響個人溝通技巧，將影響本港整體競爭力。委員會將把研究結果交予有關政策局跟進，為制訂青少年政策參考，日後舉辦更多培訓活動，啟發青少年潛能。

I think more detailed info & statistics would be useful before we can conclude anything.  I'm much confused & hv difficulty in comparing their statistics being done in 2011? (1st para), 2010 & 2009 (2nd para)...

I'm a bit upset... It came from the Commission on Youth, an advisory body which members include unofficials from a wide spectrum of the society & representatives from gov't departments as appointed by the Secretary for Home Affairs...  *^*
