One must take M2 if he/she is targeting on Engineering studies. H/ever, studying M2 takes plenty of time and effort on doing the class works & additional exercise daily ( nearly a non-stop project). It is a very tough subject comparing with Physics. Working hard is the key of success no matter what. One can give it up easily if he/she actually has no intention to work it out seriously and positively. That is about how much the self-esteem that oneself have. Overseas unis would not consider the applicant if he did not study this course at all.
On the other hand, if one has already put effort and the result is still far more behind the requirement, the subject teacher would discuss with the student or his parent to make another option. Still have enough time to brush it up if he really want to be an Engineer.
BIO is not as easier as few ten years before. It is not just to memorise the fact but students have to explain the application related to the real world organisum and biology. Watch some documentory movie about animal life, sea and ocean, plants and natural science ( on TV ) would gain more knowledge other than the regular school class. This is what my son keeps going on until DSE soon. As heard from his teacher, BIO is easy to get good marks because the questions are hard to elborate afterall.
M2 = keep practise, practise, practise, correction, correction, correction, familarise the formula/solution. No other methods.
