好小人講 JIS (Tai Po) 架, 可能好小 bk mami 既仔女o係呢間讀, 我幾個月前都有開過 topic 問, 得一位 mami 回應咋..

JIS 都幾難入, 一定要英文好好先入到, 個校長要求幾高呢. 我都有幫我仔仔 APPLY 左, 2007年 4 月 interview.

不過 JIS 係無中學部, 讀完 year 6 就要搵學校轉了...除左 JIS, 我仲 apply 左 FIS, GSIS. 不過呢兩間連interview 都要 on waiting list....

到時睇下點啦, 可能我都會諗 Discovery Bay 新起果間英基

hello 兩位mammy,
的而且確好少人討論JIS.我的囡囡在JIS讀緊Reception,佢係插班生,讀咗3個多月.我覺得JIS好好,校舍好靚,設施一流,師資亦好好,以前讀个间幼稚園老師都無留意到,但在JIS一个月左右,class techer己經發現我囡囡係gifted child,仲和我討論怎樣去培育佢,我覺得佢所留意到的事是真的要関心小朋友才会發現的.另外我覺得囡囡的oral english進步得像火箭,主要原因是JIS的收生標準除了英文要好之外,本身各班的學生亦以"外國人"為多。Local student的比例相對為少,像我囡囡的班上好像只有四個local chinese.所以真正係"International School"在學校根本無机会講中文.而JIS的程度亦較高,他們的課程都較同grade的深,而JIS亦行緊IB的,我都好欣賞這种教學方法,我知道有些家長認為深了少少,但見仁見智,我覺得小朋友在輕鬆冇壓力下,可以應付便ok了.
之前我一直想入ESF,但想入一间真係多D外國生的,又好遠(要半山,西貢orDiscovery Bay才会)自己住NT,最近的唯有選SJS,open day visit過school, chinese的比例都好多,校舍也一般頗舊,但ESF學費平D嘛(之前喎),所以都冇真正留意到JIS. JIS的缺点是冇secondary school,不過相信以它的standard,將來也不愁出路吧,我也不担心,就讓囡囡此六年在一間好學校成長吧.雖然學費貴,仲有個細仔嚟緊,都幾吃力架...冇法啦.
anyway,歡迎你哋問意見,我会盡力解答啦.JIS is really highly recommended.

好多謝兩位媽咪嘅回應。
我囡囡現在才9個月大，但我聽聞有些家長會提早為BB入紙申請幼稚園，以您們的經驗，請問我應該何時為囡囡報JIS?
我也經常途經其校舍，覺得好大好靚，不過佢遲遲都無Open Day, 無得參觀。請問知吾知下次Open Day是幾時？

我在仔仔大約 2歲時 apply JIS 的. 4歲入學即係 around 兩年時間.

Hi Blythe_miki,

Someone told me about this school. My son is now 2 yrs old & I wanted to let him study in school that uses English & Mandarin as their teaching language. I'm from SIngapore. I heard that if you want to get a place in such school, your kids need to be very talented (know either music, sport etc ...) Is it true? Then I think I will have problem ... My son don't even want to talk no. He can just say single words. I scared that he is those slow learning type

No lah, this type of school is not scary, the door is always open 4 ya.

Boys are relatively slow learner when compares with girls. I would get the appl. form and try. This is no harm done even fail the test. Is no big deal.

To me, all boys and girls are talented.

Dear Ashleymama,

Are you daughter taking the school bus? If yes, how do you like the service?

I understand that English Section students are having separate buses from the Japanese Section; my worry is that there are only a few buses for English section students and each bus will travel around the world before they go to school.

My son has also applied for JIS reception class and taking the interview after the coming Easter. Today, i'm having a meeting with his teacher. They said his speech development is a little bit delay. Now, he's 3 yrs and 4 months. He can speak a full sentence in English but also cannot express himself freely. Also, his articulation is not very good (compared with the kids of his age). However, teachers said he can understand English very well. Do u think JIS will accept a kid like him? May I know more about the interview? Also, do u mind telling me about the standard of english of your kid when she had the interview? I really want my son to study there. I've moved to TaiPo and my new home is next to JIS, so, the result is very important to me

The school bus company called "Khoon Chung". Before (one year ago)we moved to Taipo, my daughter took the school bus. She told me that bus-mother does not know much English and hence, she occasionally ignore what other non-Chinese had requested and even quite rude to them. I talked to the person-in-charge but not sure if the atitude has been improved or not. For another bus mother I knew, she is quite ok. Actually, where do you live? Yes, it takes at least double travel time if you take school bus comparing with private car or
"bo mo" bus. e.g. Yuen Long - 1 hours 15 mins. v.s. 30 mins. Serenity Park - more than 30 mins. v.s. 15 mins.

We live in Ma On Shan. We got an information sheet from Miss Miyajima and the school bus would still be managed by Khoon Chung. I tried to think in the company's shoe and planned an itinerary. It seemed a likely route is that it starts from Sai Kung, passes MOS and then go to Shatin before it heads for the school. Well, I understand it depends on the distribution of all other kids that will take school bus.

Would you mind sharing with us if you have any information about how long it takes from Ma On Shan to JIS by school bus in the morning? I've seen JIS school bus running around 3:30 pm in the afternoon, but have no idea about the morning trip.
