Dear Parents,

My son got offer from TT international Stream. Could you kindly let me know the below?
1) Is the language environment good?
2) Will it have lots of homework?
3) How long would it take to finish the homework?
4) What time the children can off the school usually?
5) Will it be lot of dictations and tests?
6) Is your child enjoy study there?

I know there are lots of questions, please help. Thanks a lot!

As no one responds, I will try to answer your questions.
1. yes, definitely
2. 3-4 pieces on weekdays and a little bit more on weekends.
3. it really depends on the kids...my son usually finishes homework at school.
4. depends...if your kid attends different activities or classes after school, he/she may leave school at 5pm or 6pm.  For my son, he takes off at 3:30pm on Mon-Thur and 5pm on Friday.
5. no.  it's like every two weeks.
6. very much.  He even told me on a weekend that he missed his classmates and he wanted to go to school.  It's the first time he's told me he wanted to go to school.

I am very happy with the school so far.  Maybe you can pm me your phone number.  I can call you up to share about my son's school life.

Dear alafred,

Thanks for your useful information.  My daughter is also admitted to the international junior section.  If you have time, would you please answer the following questions?

1. Are all the teachers really native speakers (English and Putonghua)? Are they kind and caring?

2. Would you mind telling us what level your kid is now in?

3. Any comments on the christian education or spiritual environment in the school?

4. As far as I know, the syllabus includes both the local curriculum and some IB content, would it be too demanding for kids?  How much time does he need to spend in his study every night?

5. Does your kid have spare time to read?  Does he enjoy reading?

6. From 7:00 to 8:00 in the morning, can taxi go up along the steep road?

7. Concerning the teaching approach, is it similar to local school or more close to international school?

Hi Wing_Pa,

1. yes, both English speaking teachers and Putonghua teachers are native.  they are kind and caring.

2. my son is in j1

3. they put a lot of resources on this.  i am not a christian and so i would think it's a little bit too much.  but the moral education is good too.

4. that really depends on the kid's ability.  it's not very demanding for my son.  i would say it's demanding for parents as parents need to spend a lot of time to guide their kids on learning in different aspects.  for example, writing journals.  you need to guide him how to write a journal at the beginning. you can let go when he/she picks up the skill.

5. yes, my son loves reading.  i do not need to make him to read.  reading books is one of his favourite activities.  he's read around 75 books since september.

6. my son takes school bus.  no idea about the traffice on that road in the morning.

7. i would say it's more close to international schools, at least at english and general studies classes.  my son told me that his gs teacher was very funny and they played a lot of games at the class.

It seems that your kid likes the school and adapts quite well, right?

Besides, quite a lot of parents commented that the school administration needs improvement.  Do you have the same feeling?

How about the Japanese and French lessons? Is it need to take these two languauges in P1. Can the student handle it? If the parents don't know, how to teach them?

Hi Wing_Pa,

yes, he likes going to school very much.  in fact, it took me a while to adapt to the change, not my son.

yep, i heard that too.  but i am satisified with their services so far.  in fact, the people in the adm office is very helpful.  when we sent in application, we missed out the street number in the envelopes and so we did not get the interview letter and acceptance letter.  luckly i called them up to check the status before the two big dates (interview and registration).  the staff there were very helpful.  they check and got back to me in very short time.

the teachers are very helpful too.  we checked the wrong box in the appllication form for mainstream.  we were not aware that until we took our kid to the school for the interview.  after finding out the big mistake we made, i talked to miss lui who was in change of admission.  she made change right away and let my kid to go to the internationl stream interview.

these cases gave me a very strong and possitive feeling about the school.  it seems like everyone there is very understanding and helpful.  it turns out that i did make a right choice for my kid.  he enjoys school life very much.

yes, but for j1, not p1. p1 students can join the class but they have to pay extra fee. i don't how much they need to pay for joining each class.

i don't speak either of the languages. so i just let me kid to handle it. i am not worried about it. i don't think it weighs a lot in his report card. there is only one class (30 minutes) for each language a week.

好多家長會對TT既admin有微言，講真學校咁多活動，掛漏萬一梗有，最緊要係office同事既態度，佢地真係好盡心幫家長，我覺得大家互相睇量。

各位J1家長：
我仲想知道國際班的小朋友還要在外面補習中、英、數嗎?我識得有兩個分別在沙田兩間較出名的津校讀書都要在校外補習，每月補習費約四至六千元！
我在想如果讀祟真國際班不用在外補Ptw 同英文即是每月使費不是相差太遠吧！

Hi, may I know the P1 interview format for the Int'l section? Is it a group interview or on one one? Do you know what're tested? What language is used in the interview? Will they test Chinese at all?
Also, do the children need to have impressive portfolio to get in? Thank you soooo much for your kind assistance!
