Anfield is really a good school. But it is too short time and just once weekly, it is no use. Otherwise, you will promote to first step and pre-K.

For kids this age, it's more for slowly adjusting to group life with a parent present, and of course, getting a spot for future PN, Kindie, Primary. Anfield is a great school. I regret learning about it too late and now cannot find a spot for my son who's entering K1 this year.
Personally we went to another one, a Montessori one closer to where we live, and it was the same for us: starting from 1 year old at Playgroup. Now he can go to their K1 without placement trouble. too bad they don't have primary affiliation; that is my worry now. So my advice is, target a school that is through-trained that you like, and start when there's a spot available.

Thanks all.

i want to let my daughter to start playgroup at 1.  But i still think she is too young, nothing learn.  So, i'm finding which one is suitable for her.

I know anfield per-k is good, but no idea in toddlers course.

Sure I'll do that, but my point was that I'm having trouble finding future primary spot for my son, so I don't see why you'd want to give up Anfield, which has a primary school attached to it, while their kindergarten is very good. If you don't live too far from Anfield, I advise that you stick to it, unless you have better options with primary & secondary schools affiliation.

as far as I know, at least one of  my son's classmates give up RCHK offer to move up in Anfield Primary.
if you plan to send your kids to UK secondary school, it can be an option. also if your kid remains English and academic competitive, you can still have chance to admit to ESF secondary or other popular IS.

I couldn't agree more that you won't see big impact from once a week playgroup.  That's my own experience.  And 45 minutes is very short.  Having said that, I would still encourage you to join if you are interested to move on to Anfield's Nursery (Whampoa) or Pre-K (Kowloon Tong), coz they provide priority for existing playgroup students.  We like this school and are joining Anfield Whampoa for Nursery classes in coming August.

I was so lucky that I made up my mind going international stream for my little one in aug last year so they I just managed to send my application up Anfield early. I was offered a spot at whampao campus this fall. I heard a lot good comments from my friends and also the same point with you, it had a primary school as backup so I can be more relief if I can get any spot fr other IS later

I've made up my mind on Montessori for my son's education before birth, and honestly he benefited so much from it. However, we do not plan to do Montessori for primary schools. We are applying for Anfield primary (amongst many others), and hopefully he'll get into one while benefitting from Montessori at the moment.

BBB100, what you can do is enroll in Anfield Playgroup as well as adding another Playgroup for him/her, but at this age, what babies need most are their moms. 2-3 classes max per week in sufficient. Do not over do it.

Which Montessori school did your boy attend?  From your observations, what did your boy gain from it?  My boy is attending Bambino since last Nov.  I observe some improvements in him but honestly I do not know whether he learnt it from his Montessori classes or from home, and like you, I do not plan to let him attend Montessori all the way, but probably to stop before he starts his PN.

Hi Lovelyabb,
There are several advantages to attend Anfield.
1. All NET teachers that you don't need to worry about the teachers English level as we just want our kids to learn though playing at these stage.
2. They have full day class where even ESF doesn't have as we don't wan to push the kids to learn too many extra curricular activities after school everyday.
3. The ESF primary and RC teachers come to the class to pre-visit the kids before last Christmas before the interview. My son told me that one of the teacher in the interview was in his class.
4. Both ESF and RCHK group anfield kids into the same group and virtually the kids can adapt to the interview so well as they are attending class everyday with their classmates.
5. Last, location is very important! As we lived in Yau Yat Chuen thus it was just 10mins of walk.

In fact, my son was in TT playgroup and YC 2yo class before he joined Anfield but I found TT class so small, and YC got only one English teacher but two Chinese teachers in the class. Before we join Anfield, we have attended their school fair and found all kids speak fluent native english. Also, we have missed the application period of ESF so that Anfield was simply the only choice for us.

For KJS, at least 5 kids got offers and don't know how many got Beacon hill or other ESF primary offers.
Many got RCHK offers but some of them will promote to Anfield primary instead though it is more expensive than RCHK over 100k per year. I think the parents not very concern as the full day Kindergarten is over 90k per year already.

So sounds like some parents have preference for anfield primary over RCHK.  But isn't anfield a relatively new school?

I am thinking with the new esf policy change if there is still any advantages of going to a esf kindy. Anfield sounds like a better alternative.

5 into kjs, is that a lot?  How many children applied from anfield?  U know anyone got rejected?  From what I know kjs should have 150 spots.  Then where are the other children coming from?  Any ideas?

Sometime I think what is the ideal school for kids! Happiness, grow with friends, small classes, small school so that every teacher can call your name, care your needs, know your favorite...
My kid is admitted KJS to 13/14 Y1, I don't know which schools the other kids come from.

Shrimpiggy, I totally agreed with u.  Children happiness is very important.  How many children in each class at anfield?
My target is esf primary, that is why I am trying to see if esf kindy or anfield is more suited.
Many thanks for replying to me!!!
