Well I'm also waiting for the results of St. Paul boys. But the school fee is higher than RC. Besides, St. Louis also offer a place to my boy. That's why I didn't make up my mind yet. So, RC has the Secondary school, is it also the reason why RC is your first choice?

Yes, an undertaking to give up the central allocation. That's we have a bit of hesitation coz we have only 15 marks.

when the result of St. Paul's boys is released, we may be able to make up the mind. However, we have already forfeited the central allocation because we don't think we have the luck.

I received the rejection letter, ha ha.

Though the teacher told me (after the interview) that your child’s preparation work was quite good, I did worry if his performance would have been outweighed by the age constraint. It was specified on the application form that priority was given to children who were born from Sept, 2002 to Aug, 2003. However, he was born at the end of Nov, 2003. My friend advised us not to try RC as our son was not within the preferred age and he had no religious background at all but we didn't listen to him.

Perhaps, his performance was not as good as the other applicants or the teacher didn't tell us the truth about the interview performance.

Please let us know if you kid who was born later than Nov 2003 without religious background but was offered a place in RC.

At the first beginning, I guess the total number of applicants for RC is far below that for YW and TSL. Now, my son got the 2nd round of interview at YW and TSL but lost the chance at RC. That could be his fate. Anyways, let him wait for the results of Ying Wa and TSL two weeks later.

Good luck to your kids, especially to those 'young kids without religious background' ! I believe the capability of these kids can outweigh the age constraint in the short future.

At last, congratulation to all kids who got the offer from RC. You have worked hard already. Take a small celebration with your parents who have also worked hard for the past few weeks.

Don't get upset. Your performance at YW and TSL already showed that you are a very smart but young kid.

Being a parent, I also understand your feeling. Age is an actual factor that can affect the offer. If I were a teacher, I would also prefer older kid as their learning processes usually take less effort and assistance from schools in comparison to those who are 1 year old younger. Sorry, we can't deny that this is the reality - the game's rule as listed on RC's application form. You read the rule and submitted the form. This is your personal choice. I believe that there could be exception in case you have a "superkid".

In my opinion, a "superkid" may not be happier than a normal kid, sometimes. You or other parents may not agree with that.

Yeah !! My daughter is also accepted too. Very very happy.

I am a Christain, so I think the religious background (Catholic) may not be so important.

I am going to sign the undertaking letter as RC is my 1st choice as my friend's son was graduated from RC, my friend highly recommended RC to us.

I also like RC which is an English primary school and adopts PTH and English as media of teaching.

During the interview, I also felt the teachers and principal are very nice.

The letter mentioned that your application was not successful due to the limited places. I don't know the provision of "waiting list". My teacher told me the good performance of kid but even a waiting place was not offered. I may be too naive or the teacher is too tricky. A bit disappointed !

Would you mind telling the month and year of birth of your daugher ?

To the parents of those successful applicants,
may you please kindly tell me the month & year of your kids, besides the sharing of your happiness. I guess that almost all successful kids were born before the end of Nov 2003 or at least within the preferred age (as specified on the application form). I understand it is the game's rule but just to see if the age constraint is really a main concern of RC. Thanks.

My wife didn't attend the interview as she needed to work at that moment. She felt regretted. It is not her problem but the age constraint. I told her and myself that Primary 1 is just a starting point. There are many good starting points. Don't worry too much. Now, we can stay on NT as RC was the one and only one school we tried in HK Island.

Anyway, the game with RC is over. I sincerely hope that your daughter will be a RC student soon. Good luck.

所以我覺得就算收到reject 信, 有心想讀, 可以嘗試叩門, 不要打定輸數.

高主教是一間私校, 但它與其他私校不同, 它的規則是在註冊後必定要放棄其他所有直資及政府學校, 甚至6月的大抽獎, 我囝囝的師兄試過註冊後照樣參加大抽獎, 在放榜當日就接到高主教的[學位取消信], 求情都唔得,故千萬不要嘗試,

Congratulation. you kid must be "supersmart" if he has no brother in RC before, because the RC staff said that they seldom selected "young kid" except for those applicants who are very understanding!!

I just make a call to school, the school bus only run in HK side, so you may ring to the school bus at 2560 4511 for more info. If so, I think I will take my son to the HK Island and let him take the school bus to school direct. I will register at 1:00pm how about you.

I am on Kowloon side and I know they have direct 媬姆車 going to RC from Kowloon/NT. They promoted outside school during interviews and the school also said we may direct contact them as they will definitely promote on 27 Nov for registration but the school is inconvenient to give us the contacts directly. They are really 消息靈通!

Just an advice. If you still can't get the letter tonite, get the application no. and call the school to check.

2008 is HK$2,350 per month. The fee for 2009 will be announced before summary holiday, i.e. around June 2009

It's good to hear that many parents are interested in RC. I've got the acceptance letter last night. My elder son is also studying in RC (P2). My experience with RC is good. Teachers are not very pushing but still working hard to get good results. Languages are important. They teach English half year higher than the class e.g. P1 students study 1b and 2a english books instead of 1a and 1b. Let's see if we could meet each other in RC. Cheers

my girl is accepted but i'm struggling whether or not to give up the lucky draw because it's only the 2nd year to accept girls. do you know the approx. ratio of boys vs girls in P1? and, how do you feel about girls' school life at RC?

I have a private PTH tutor who teaches my sons once a week. I believe my son's standard is quite ok as he speaks quite well and comments from his PTH teacher is also good. Don't worry too much. We, as parents, can always help a lot especially on primary stage. They won't be on their own to study and learn. Having said that, if your kids are very independent and self-disciplined, you don't need to do much and be with them would be more than enough.

First of all, the design of the campus is for both boys and girls (unlike the old campus). Don't worry about the toilets. Most of the teachers are female and they are experienced teachers. As far as I know, teachers seldom quit or never quite. This year (the first year P1 with girls), there were around 15-20 girls, they are allocated to two classes (there are altogether 4 classes in each grade) so that girls are getting together easily and happily. Sorry that I could not share too much. I can only tell by my observation at school.

Thanks for your sharing.

I talked to the teachers before the interview, one teacher told me that 8 girls each in one class (total 2 classes). She also said this year there were more girls applied for 2009/10 P.1 and the school intends to accept more girls to make it more balance.

I brought my daughter to the girls' toilet on the ground floor, very good condition and big enough.

Does anyone know the class size in P.1? My son has got the offer but I am struggling whether I should give up the lucky draw or give up RC. I think the English standard is good in RC but I am not sure whether my son's Chinese level can also be kept. I think I can help his English but not Chinese as there are not many good Chinese tutorial class outside school. If I choose a school with Chinese as the MOI, I would choose Lingnan or Bonham Road Government School. If English & Putonghua, I think I would choose either St. Louis (smaller class size) or RC (co-ed).

Regarding no. of applicants, I think they have about 800 instead of 1,000+ because I sent the application form on the day before the deadline  and my no. is 6XX. Though it seems that this school is not as popular as SPCC / DBS..., I found the teachers and school head are dedicated.  I got the offer too and will think seriously whether we should give up the lucky draw.
did any one know the school hours?  I start to think about the way to bring him to school...
I also worry about my poor PTH can't help my son.  Any one got good PTH tutor or great Chinese subject tutorial school, please advise. I worry my son can't catch up in P1.

Not sure if we should take chinese P or English P... although I am fluent with all 3 languages but doesn't mean my son can cope...
Any comments?

Very happy that we've got the acceptance letter too. We will surely give up the Central Allocation for RC. I'm sure RC is a good school and has a good headmastress.

It's a kind of release now, no need to worry about his primary school any more.

Hope to meet you parents in RC later.

FYI My boy was born in Mar and no religious.

FYI, St. paul boy's 好似係由p.3才開始用普通話教學(heard from bk)和小一至小六都是以中文數學(confirmed by st. paul boy's).

SFA is my first target but I also felt RC is a good school.

Yes, RC use PTH as teaching medium in Chinese. Besides, they teach Maths and GS in both English and Chinese.

Most students promote to RC Secondary school (around 80%). Some of them with good results go to Kings, St. Jo, etc. You can get the secondary school allocation report from their website.

Obviously, academic level of RC is higher than Lingnan and RC Secondary school is better than Lingnan Secondary school (band 2 /3)

Also, you should not struggle in choosing between RC and Lingnan, you should consider whether it is worth to give up central allocation if you belong to Wanchai district, in other words, make choice among RC, Wah Yan and St. Jo.

From my perception,if you put Lingnan as last choice, you can still have chance to study in this school as the competition to this school is small.
