暫時我小朋友SMC和真道書院已經取錄, 優才書院就waiting list. 不過還未有最後意向, 因為太難取捨.

我哋暫時有GH同聖士提反，CKY 2nd interview 咗，未知得唔得，暫時未決定點揀，我大仔喺九龍讀書，津校 target 係 Marymount，但如揀聖士提反就冇得抽，大家有咩意見？

如果要Marymount就唔好揀聖士提反,但如果你跨區就難抽D, CKY我都覺得幾好,不過始終新式教學好驚個小朋友要轉返出黎時有問題,其實如果你唔一定要Marymount咁就唔好煩揀聖士提反算,因為我覺得這間ok,起碼唔駛担心英文同普通話先

我會揀聖士提反,但就要比好多錢出黎,學費都6000加埋校車,lunch錢,雜費等我諗平均一個月都要7000幾8000, 不過米當比佢地去左學野,因為出面學英文同普通話都要比學費啦,宜家學校有得學幾好

I have a offer from Good Hope School and ST Stephen Preparatory School.
I adore them very much but I live in Siu Lam.
Most probably, I will choose Good Hope School. I really admire the location, school compound and strong academic background teachers of SSPS.

sacred heart我都會考, St. Paul Convent之前有人可以幫我人事入但我想個女用自己實力入所以算數,不過St.Paul太近Causeway Bay唔想, sacred heart考入我會考慮,我會等lucky draw想抽Marymount,如果唔係去返Good Hope搬去九龍

我都係講下自己收左d咩風啫, 就係唔清楚, 所以咪週圍問人lor, 三間都係好學校, 如果唔係我都唔會同自己個囡報la, 係想知多d, 等睇下邊間適合自己個囡多d 啫, 正所謂甲之熊掌乙之.....

我個同事個囡係聖心讀精英班, 我見個媽一d都唔担心, 因為佢個囡全自動波, 但往往講緊同學與同學之間既競爭好大, 又往往為一兩分總成績差距爭崩頭...我細胆, 嚇親啫!

gh我大概想像到個囡會面對d 咩生活 ~ 因我由細到大都係讀天主教女校, 佢地屬於同一類, 咁多年都一成不變....

sfa - 對當日申請同考試既安排簡直嘆為觀止, 又無中學backup....

我都係想搵個地方申下啫, 大家家長經過呢幾個月既艱苦歲月...我覺得我有d痴痴地, 思覺失調....亞門!

haha一陣你比人插,話人地SFA安排唔好,其實我都係想個女有個清潔又美麗的學習環境,我睇GH新校舍D相真係好正喎,小朋友返學都精神D(一陣我又比人話要好環境不如咩咩咩

),講真無得揀就話姐,有得揀一定會揀間自己覺得好的比個女讀,我都無話過這幾間容易,不過相對GH一定深唔過SFA,其實我相信我個女讀SFA都應付到,所以我米揀間靚D比佢

,我响到淨係見D媽咪成日話SFA有幾深,反而好小話GH有幾深,我會再問清楚我個friend聖心,不過問都多餘,佢連聖心有精英班都唔知要我話佢知,重問我邊到有得睇

If you are living in HK island, ST.Clare is better because it has direct connection to the secondary school. I have a colleague's daughter studying there and it is a good school in all aspects.

Any suggestion if I want to apply Kowloon schools? My schools on list are only Good Hope and SFA. Can you suggest more for my reference? You may also suggest HK schools if you find they are good. Thanks.

FYI, re lucky draw, I will apply Maryknoll as we are Catholic.

My baby will be K1 next year, so I am not as knowledgable as you all mami so far. I am so excited to have a better preparation in advance.

其實好難比suggest你,因為每個人心目中好的定義唔同,邊間學校好又好難講,好似我覺得St.Clare's好,有D媽咪又唔係咁覺得,有D話聖心好唔又唔覺得,我鍾意DGS同SPCC不過唔收我個女,好似這裡起碼有成30間學校個個媽咪都討論緊,我自己就會買左d小學選校的書,上bk睇,上學校wedsite睇,之後睇下個女的性格去揀學校,因為無可能間間都去考,最多考6,7間,我唔敢比咩意見,因為我無親身讀過這些學校,我建議你最好搵10間出黎再比較下邊類型適合你小朋友之後再揀6,7間做目標,間間教學方式唔同,我驚比錯意見你.其實bk現在大家成日討論的30幾間學校你可以從中睇下大家的討論去為自己小朋友預備選校

after a long long research since last year, i only able to select 3 primary schools which we want to apply for him....

如果target果2,3間都係超級名校(spcc, dgs, db果d), 除非你小朋友好叻, or你有後台, 否則都係考多幾間backup好d(interview既野好難講架), 考6,7間真係唔算多, 申請左先啦, 到時有心儀offer可以唔再去考架嘛! 好過到時無著落(touchwood!)至黎後悔就遲喇
我果時考5間(加直升一間), 一間明知陪跑即管搏下, 果然衰左, 一間即刻ok自己都鐘意不過唔係first choice, 第3間唸唸下無去(因為第2間收左), 第4間完全無feedback無interview, 第5間(最心儀)waitlist, 叩門叩左好耐得左.......呢場仗真係要打好耐呢!

我同你心態一樣,超級名校明知好難入,所以考多幾間,我報左8間,最後宣小無去interview,因為已有幾間收左. 個女月戰月勇,最衰心樣個兩間前頭考左,反而月後考月好,因為小朋友習慣左就唔會怕去interview.

6~7間真係唔算多,我報咗10間私/直來做backup,一來對小朋友唔係太大信心,二來可以比佢參觀吓不同的小學.都很有得著啊!只係冇考九龍塘學校,因為撞咗時間,很幸運9間當中有7間正取收了,那兩間最想入的超級名校沒我份兒.

好彩決定幫囝囝多報幾間!

My son applied 4 DSS + HKUGA. He was admitted to all 4 schools. HKUGA, we only went for the 1st interview as a "real mock interview" and we declined the 2nd interview.

Depending on the child, but I did not go for so many schools as kids do get tired. I would rather have interviews once a week or once a fortnight so it is not too strenuous on the child or me and I believe that will guarantee better performance.

Admittedly I was a bit worried at first that I had limited my son's opportunities. But luckily it worked out well as our real target school normally starts interview in late Oct and finishes the 2nd interview in late Nov., so I did not want my son to be too exhausted by then.

My own experience says it is important to understand your child well and choose the appropriate schools instead of applying many schools going too high above or below the child's ability which means either rejection (so interviewing was a waste of energy anyway) or you would not want to study there even though admitted.

A lot of research beforehand and meeting children who have been admitted to see how your child compares is v important. I went to all the P1 interview briefings I knew of since my son was in K1. I also called up all my friends and met with their children and found out the interview questions asked. I then drew up my school list of about 7 or so, and finally decided on my 4 in Sept.

It is a long and drawn out process but I would much rather I do most of the work and take most of the pressure so my child does not have to shoulder unnecessary pressure. His job was hard enough, ie to brush up his talking / storytelling skills and speak confidently in front of strangers/ principals. Therefore I would much rather limit the number of schools and avoid interivews after interviews and having some interviews fall on the same day or week.

Must emphasise that asking previous interview questions is v v important. After doing my research, I understood that my target schools do NOT ask information based questions, (eg what are the transport means on rails etc) and do NOT emphasise on certificates, so my son worked mainly on storytelling skills and talking to strangers in our everyday life activities. I was careful not to overburden my son with activities as certificates were not important to us. I do NOT want P1 interviews to affect my son's "normal childhood".

Also, make sure you have 1 to 2 "real mock interviews" with non target schools before your target schools' first interview.

除1和2不收之外,其他正取收了..但3,6,7,8,9已寫信放棄或不註冊,讓苦等的家長早日得到安排,(希望可以啦)...所以,現在只剩下SFA 和 APS,未知挑那間好?最心儀當然也是大家心儀的DBS啦!!(因為連waiting都冇,不知叩門有機會嗎?)

i'm agree most of point of view and find that we have a similar strategy for the p1 interviews for our kid.
would you like to share which schools you have applied for you child as we find that <<careful not to overburden my son with activities as certificates were not important to us. I do NOT want P1 interviews to affect my son's "normal childhood>> is exactly what we want as well! and somehow i would like to know how you to these appropriate school base on your son's character and ability?!

so the application of P1 10/11 will be in mid of year!!!
and the school open day of one of our target is mid this month...
so have to go check and discuss with the pupils, parents and teachers....
get more information, show camill the environment explain him a little the situation and see his reaction if he likes the school or uncomfortable.
long way to go ar.....

Very appreciated your detail analysis! After reading your post, I will re-think my strategies to apply schools for my K2 daughter. I also set my major coming tasks are to train up her confidence to face strangers and storytelling skills. But, I found that it's not easy to achieve these. If you have any suggestions or courses to attend, pls suggest to me. If you don't mind, could you also pm your target schools since I agreed to your philosophy to choose the right schools!
