Hi 大家好,

我們經上星期六及日的家庭會議後, 一致通過讓囝囝(Keefe)入讀高主教明年小一.  有無其它小朋友都已決定, 大家一齊分享呀.

St. cat多吾多人入了RC? Keefe有另2位同學仔都係住荃灣都會choose RC. 不過他們都考慮緊搬往HK side or KLN side.

你係咪決定搭校車, 咁由荃灣去灣仔又真係有d遠, 我就係唔想小朋友太早起身係咁遊車河, 所以時間許可我寧願自己早d起身送佢返學, 但就會係灣仔先上校車.

由tsuen wan至灣仔要至少75分鐘, 所以我現在計劃搬屋. 不過就不想住HK side, 因我和hb都是九龍區工作. 所以check了幾points後, 應該hunghom最近只需35分鐘不過無mtr. 所以好大機會choice黃大仙/diamond hill (大約45分鐘).

我估為女孩子開多一班應該機會不太呢, 因2年前RC要F.6才收女生. 好吾好打電話去RC問吓點解會在小五開多一班? HHHAAAA....

Sorry to ask.

How come you all apply a school in the mid-level area of the Hong Kong Island and is not close to an MTR station, while you are living in TW, TKO and Lam Tin ???

I think this is too far away. Even so, the fee of the school bus could be up to $1600 per month. That means the monthy cost including school fee could be $4000 to $5000.

I will only do this for DBS for my case (I live in the HK side)

If from TKO to RC around 60-70 mins by private van. It's reasonable for you?

Because my son from Tsuen Wan to Kln Tong also around 35-40mins by school bus. If 45 mins is acceptable for me. EEEE

其實香港只是一個好細的地方, 不過劃分hk / kln & nt side.  如果一間好的學校只需用45-60分鐘車程, 那不是一個問題了.

我認識很多家長都是住hk side不過在kln tong上幼稚園, 他們一樣介意太長的車程for小朋友, 就因為家長都愛自己的小朋友他們會在kln side接駁school bus.  一方面可減小車時另一方面可以上理想的kinder.

我相信對與錯是好難作結論, 一切都是point & view.  正如我會因為囝囝上一間好的小學會搬往較近的地區.  可能您心中的dream school is DBS.  不過每人心中的dream school是不一樣.

哈哈! 您不要太客氣呢, 其實我真係feel到現今有很多父母都是十分有耐力及負責, 我只是盡力以為.

我絕對相信大家在search school information > ready profolio > fill in the application form > interview > waiting the result > got the result (may acceptance / rejected / waitinglist).....
都十分努力及willing to 付出, 係無私的付出! 所以大家都係孩子的"好爸爸及好媽媽".

其實係search school information時大家都已有排序, 可以講好彩的是RC是我囝囝及爸爸的首選, 之前我一直經常visit RC's website而我們對RC的comments一直都是有增無減. 既然已決定了RC是付合我們之要求, 那我們大家一起努力吧!

Yes, very agree what you said.

If my child is a boy, I MUST have no hesitation to let my child to study in RC which is definitely a good school in all aspects. However, as my child is a girl, I need to think more even I am still ranking RC as my first choice.

My husband always says that I am thinking too too much as nobody will know everything and should have no problem for a girl to study in RC wor.

If I were you.. I also will more consider let my daughter go to RC or not....

不過我真係幾欣賞RC出來的學生, 因有一個朋友的仔仔是RC小四生, 他和我們"班"aunt食飯是十分有禮貌及willing take care my son(當地他只是k1). 有位aunt問他可否以英文介紹此餐廳(我們dinner的餐廳), 他不但沒有shy以英文向我們介紹. 真是無想過一位小四生可以如此勇敢面對我們班陌生的aunt. 自此我對RC已十分欣賞.

*另my hb是RC的舊生, 他一向都好recommend.

Hi FungMm and other to-be-RC parents,

May I join your discussion. I am also living in Tsuen Wan while my elder son is studying in RC. In terms of the travelling time, it takes about 70 minutes. My younger son is going to study RC in next year also. I am now thinking of whether to move to HK side. Ideally, I don't want to move as it definitely involves more $$$ and it takes time for us to find a situtable place to live. If any of you in Tusen Wan are planning to study in RC, is it possible that we take a taxi to school to save at least time? Anyone living in Tsuen Wan are willing to group with us to take taxi to RC?

Happy to hear from you. I'm living in Cairnhill. It costs around $110 (include tunnel fee and after discount) from Tsuen Wan to RC via Hung Hum tunnel. But we have to get on the taxi at around 7:00am and the travelling time is around 30 mins. RC teachers encourage students to bring and read story books in school before school starts.

I suggest you move to HK side / somewhere near Wan Chai as there are quite a number of after school activities. If your son join these classes, you will have to arrange transportation on your own. No school bus (except for RC school bus) will arranged.

係呀, 因如果直接由tko坐校車到學校, 我相信會幾辛苦, 所以我選擇自己或姐姐帶佢到灣仔再轉校車上學校.

It is never too far if RC is your first choice. I suggest you catch a direct school bus from Tsuen Wan rather than change at Causeway Bay. Though the travel time could be 1 hour 15 minutes or so, it will save your own time to travel from Tsuen Wan to Hong Kong 4 times a day.

Thanks for your suggestion, but we could not consider to move to HK side, because I and my hb also work in Kln side, and my hb always go to China by day-trip.  So we are consider move to Hunghom or Diamond hill (around 35 / 45 mins) by private van.

After Chinese New Year we will start to visit all the garden.  Hope everything can smooth la. hhahha...

Now I am busy for our Japan Trip ar... so happy!  Cheers!

If the activities are take place at school, there will be school bus after the activities. This is convenient to parents. As far as I know, only football team has no school bus arrangement.

我記得您仔仔好似係P.2, 他有否參加校內的課外活動? 昨晚溫完書囝囝問我可否上RC的website睇吓, 我當然答應和他一邊看d哥哥上課的tearm work (art lesson), 他十分開心....

他好開心地說他的老師都叫他choice RC呀, 所以他十分開心(有老師支持他)... HHHAAAA!

除了爸爸及媽媽外老師就是他最相信的人LA....

Anyone can share the medium of instructions in different subjects? Are they using different MOI in the same subjects of different forms? E.g. Putonghua in Chinese for P.1-4 but Cantonese in F.5-6?

I heard from RC teacher on the interview date, she told me they using PTH for all the Chinese subjects.

I heard from one current parent, who said they using English for all English teaching, and has a NAT teacher teaching oral and reader (one lesson per week).

Where you got this message for they using PTH for P.1-P.4 and Cantonese for P.5-P.6?

The Putonghua ambassador told me that F.5-6 use Cantonese. I wonder this is because they use PTH years ago or they really would switch to Cantonese in P.5-6.
I've heard that their Maths (in lower form) are in Chinese. So I wonder it is in PTH or Cantonese, and I don't know if they will switch to English in higher form. I cannot get the information from the web.

Any more girls being admitted to P1 this year? Do share how you think!

My girl has been luky to be accepted by RC, but no one can tell how many girls they are allowing this year (the actual turning up is of course doubtful, but I'm afraid the school may have set a fixed quota for the number of girls so as to allow gradual adaptation). As far as I know, they've got just 16 girls in P1 this school year. I do hope more girls will be going to this school. Why? May be I'm just overworried, cos I have in mind that more girls in class means a quieter learning environment and less discipline problem (compared to co-ed or girls school). Besides, more girls may mean more close friends they can make.

By the way, I live in Tsing Yi and am still waiting for the announcement of all the applied school. RC is definitely among our top choice.

RC在2008年9月已收女生, 當然比例都不太多. 但我相信會漸進呢, 因有好多人還以為RC是男校. 如果您大仔明年考P.1, 您可以一直留意吓RC的女生收生比例.

* 私校是不計分架, 即是首名次名小孩都是一樣. 您真是一位好媽媽咁早就為您2位小孩作出準備! Good luck!

hi FungMm & other RC parents,

Yesterday 自行公佈結果, very very lucky that my daughter was accepted by a famous school in Island East (10個選1個都中).

縱使這個機會非常難得, 朋友都說如同中了六合彩, 但經過非常慎重深思考慮各方面因素(包括學校老師質素,家長學生質素,教學語言,中學網等...)及小女自己意願, 我和hb決定choose RC.

今早致電RC, 並得知學校接受了女生的人數約為總收生人數的三份之一, 這令我更加放心了.

今後, 請大家共同努力加油 !!

My girl will take school bus. For your info, around $700 from Chai Wan to RC, the school bus lady told that it only takes 20 mins to arrive school (before 7:30 am). I went to RC by taxi before and it took half an hour. Actually I don't understand why so fast and also need to arrive the school so early. Anyway, all these are not big problems.

most likely will take school bus although we live close to the school, because we think it'll be easier to manage, especially during bad weather conditions; and, we can imagine how hard to get on the green bus from school after school dismissal because wah yan is just next to it, probably crowds of pupils waiting at shiu fai terrace at the same time slot. do you think so?

i'll registrate 1pm tomorrow, what abt u? hope we can meet very soon.

Oh, why we need back to school before 7:30am, as my conversation with "Fong E" as before, she said private van need to arrival school on or before 7:55am (the normal school time at 8:10am).

Let my hb ask them (outside of school) again when he go to RC tomorrow.

Could you mind pm Mr. Wong’s contact to me? We will unlikely move to HK Island in the near future as the cost is so high there.
Mathew’s daddy is worrying whether Mathew could get used to primary life. Do any of you know that RC will have summer class during the summer holiday in additional to the bridging course from 25 – 31 Aug? Is there any good bridging course organized by other organization?

For private school, I think the students' academic levels are more even than the govt sub school.

It really depends on what you want : 男女校 or 女校; willing to pay for a better 學習環境 or not.

I just finished RC reigistration. The process was fast as the staff collected the reply slip and cheque and returned to me a notice. I also got the school bus list of 08/09 for reference. FYI, from WC/CWB to RC, the fee is $585 per month and pick up time is 7:20am. This is reasonable, but i guess there will be a gentle increment in the coming year.

Yeah !! My hb also finished the registration this morning lu. He said 好多人, hope next year the class will not be too big la. The class structure for next year will be same as this year, 2 classes with girls only so that more girls in the same class. Good arrangement !

It's like a notice paper, my hb got it after register in RC. You did not received it? In there mention for we need go to school for school uniform etc. on 4 Jul 09.

It's also a receipt of $800 registration fees. Please keep the receipt until we get the tuition fee pay slip of Sep 2009. The paragraphs mention that we have to go back to school on 4 July to order textbook and buy uniform....

I guess that RC might have admitted a little bit more students according to past statistics but it turns out that not many students give up the place at this stage. I know that St. Louis has 2 class but more than 100 students were admitted because they predicted that some students will give up the place after the lucky draw and also they have resources to open one more P.1 class if not many students give up the place. So I wonder how many students would be in each class at the end. Would there be any upper limit (e.g. 30) in private school?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Avislai,

I think not only RC, other schools will also accept a bit more students so as to reduce their admin. time and cost. Actually, we should understand the difficulties of the schools to make a balance on how many students should be accepted as “收得少又話收生不足, 收得多又話太大班學生”.

Yes, I heard of SFA - Kln side also over accepted the number of students. Because under their exp. they can estminate how many students will not come to registeration.

Beside, I am planning go to Tokyo in January 09, however still very expensive (who said more cheaper for traval la)....
