我仔仔今年16歲, 在新加坡讀書巳經7年了
陪了他2年後我回了港, 離開前找了一家私人辦的宿舍照顧他直至現在, 由於覺得宿舍真的辦得很好, 監護人很盡責, 有愛心, 而且會講廣東話 ^^ 她們不單照顧了小朋友的起居學業, 更加注重德行.. 我仔仔由於有輕微ADD, 在學校總是有點大大小小的麻煩, 可是她們都不怕煩的不斷去跟學校溝通幫助我仔仔.. 今年他中學畢業了, 雖然O-LEVEL成績未出, 但校內mock exam成績比之前跳升了二十名...
能夠順利完成中學真的很感謝她們.
由於今年他們學生增多了搬了去一個更大的地方, 有需要招生, 所以, 我就自告奮勇希望能出一分力....

有興趣送小朋友去新加坡留學的父母, 可以pm給我把資料給你們看..
有問題我會盡力答... 哈哈...其實我所知不太詳細, 因為她們都替我搞掂.. 不用我費心

老實說, 每個地方都有自己的accent, 我以前個boss夠重蘇格蘭口音啦, 聽到我死... :p
以前我請過nus大學女生同一個馬來退休女教師來替我仔補習英文, 我係旁邊聽又完全冇野喎... 所以呢, 口音一定會有少少, 但唔需要太擔心喎
而新加坡的singlish, 我發覺是本身英文水準較低的才會滿口singlish, 又或者佢地同人吹水時先會用, 一同外國人講野又會唔見哂d singlish架..

學費+生活費大約如下:
Year 2009 (International student)
primary S$135
secondary S$195
Junior College / Centralised Institute S$330

然後住宿費(包meals/洗熨) s$1150 (3-4人房)
我自己會每個月給s$200零用錢小朋友
這是我仔仔的每月固定花費, 外加有時需要理髮看醫生之類
如小朋友課業上需要特別加強補習,監護人會跟你商量處理

kammy, 如果你是想找政府小學或中學的, 基本上不用先找學校, 因為由2009年起新加坡統一海外生考試和派位, 考試期在每年的九月底(pri)和十月初(sec), 萬一小朋友在統一試中考不好, 派不到位置, 才要自己去找學校再考..
所以不用特別經香港agency, 因為hk agent 也是跟個別language center聯系, 一定要先入讀語言中心再替你報考政府學校, 即是說, 如果你小朋友本身成績很好, 不打算要入讀語言中心來準備考試的話, 那他們就沒那個服務了, 而實際上你在網上報考就可以了.. 先用旅遊身份考, 考到再申請student pass

如果要入讀考試準備班的話, 我給你的資料裏也有.. 宿舍會替你安排報考和申請student pass, 一切不用煩

我仔仔當年是考新加坡獎學金去留學的,所以也是教育部派的學校, 而現在住的宿舍是我陪了仔仔2年後打算回香港時在新加坡找到的, 相比起其他宿舍這裏更有家的味道....
那時我在不同時間上去宿舍參觀查詢, 看到小朋友看起來很正經, 主要都是泰國和印尼學生, 有次我看到監護人在office教訓一名中學生... 那時我覺得這裏不錯,會關心才會對學生緊張, 最重要是她會講廣東話, 不用擔心溝通不良

係呢段期間會讓阿仔自己揾料,自己分析,

s$1150係每個月的boarding fee 即係住宿費, 巳包膳食及洗熨.
對, 海外學生需要一名新加坡公民(SC)或永久居民(PR)作為sponsor, 宿舍也會有sponsorship服務提供

謝謝你的詳盡回覆, 你小朋友就讀新加坡的政府學校會否覺得辛苦呢?我姑奶是新加坡公民(她嫁了當地華僑), 她說當地的政府學校好demanding, 絶不比香港傳統敎學輕鬆, 國際學校相對會較好, 但我怕學費昂貴, 要應付小朋友的生活費外, 還要付出昂貴學費, 會加重家庭負擔, 所以我想知道你小朋友的親身感受, 還有, 要考入政府學校是否很難呢?因為我在書局留意到一些新加坡英文補充練習好像很深似的. 唔好意思咁多問題要麻煩你!

早晨 !! 剛剛在pm度答了你才看到這個.. 又再答一次 ^^
你小朋友讀幾年級?
我仔仔當年由香港p.3升去新加坡的p.4, 以他的情況來看, 一點都不辛苦, 功課比香港少, 默書也不特別多... 在香港時他讀的祇是普通小學, 你說學校很demanding.. 我也不太覺得, 反而新加坡的老師們很多都很好, 因為我仔仔本身的問題, 這麼多年來的form teacher大都很照顧他, 跟宿舍的guardian常有溝通以解決問題.
對.. 國際學校太貴了.. 我也負擔不起.. 而且讀國際學校的話, 不如在香港讀好了
新加坡的英文是比香港深很多, 但不要太擔心, 小朋友很快就會適應的, 你可以預算初期時給小朋友加強一點補習就行了.... 老實說, 我覺得這很值得, 香港小孩很多讀到中學還不會用英語溝通, 在新加坡四處都是英語的環境下, 一,兩年就沒問題了.
考入政府學校不會太難, 祇是考英數兩科, 宿舍那裏也會有準備班幫忙, 連那些印尼小孩都能考進了, 祇是要花多點時間而巳... 放心吧

又要謝謝你的回覆! 我個囡囡今年九歳, 現於方方弘爵國際學校就讀四年級. 其實上年她還是在一所本地小學上學, 但總覺得在英文方面學習較慢, 什至每星期也在外上英文playgroup來加強訓練也不見得有大進步, 當面對外籍人仕還是口啞啞, 所以毅然幫她轉讀這間能提供較良好英語而價錢又唔太昂貴嘅國際學校, 她在短短三個月已經可以用英語與同班的外藉同學(多是印度, 菲律賓, 華僑和少數歐美人士)溝通, 令我頗滿意.

但為求她可以講得更地道嘅英語, 但又可以學習中文嘅, 相信新加坡是不二之選, 曾經詢問我姑奶關於新加坡嘅學習環境, 她也覺得現在新加坡嘅英語環境比香港強好多, 在政府的強治下周圍都只有英語, 對當地小朋友來說英語就是母語, 唔似現在的香港學生讀十幾年書還是聽較講強很多, 而且他們從幼稚園就開始學習國際音標, 星eng已經是上上一代嘅事(我姑奶老公已經是操純正而流俐的英語和國語), 難得有親人在, 可以在有需要時代為照顧, 不用太擔心, 所以現在希望得到更多嘅意見和有關資料, 再決定何時送她到新加坡.

Hi 凱倫,

環境是最容易令小朋友進步的, 當所有同學都在講英文時你囡囡也不會再害羞和抗拒了, 多了練習也會進步得快.

當初我選新加坡也是因為有中文讀, 我仔仔中文很好, 所以不想浪費了.. 現在他簡體繁體也會看, 廣東話普通話也沒問題, 是真正的兩文三語呢 ^^

或者你可以考慮明年送囡囡去新加坡升讀5年級, 因為六年級是不收插班生的, 新加坡p.6學生要考一個psle升中派位試的. 由於小學生要考的aeis 試在9月底, 所以你在年中前要開始行動囉.
你囡囡不打算住在姑媽家嗎?

新加坡人平時溝通會加好多"尾音/助語詞".. 我唔知係咪應該咁叫.. 我以前係sg 工作時, d同事覺得我講野冇尾音好"掘", 而我就學下佢地講野加個"啦"之類係後面... 而且係不論中, 英文...
呢種文化有d似香港人平時講廣東話語法, 而當講普通話或者同外國人講英文時, 語法又會變成好正式. ...
我還發覺一個重點, 就是那個人的文化程度.. 文化水準越高的越少用singlish.

我仔仔在讀小學時, 學校巳經很注重學生使用standard english了, 因為我那時常提醒他不要學singlish, 他說學校也有說要講std eng.呢..

學校是否好嚴這問題要視乎個別校風, 但放心.. 學校不同軍訓.. 而一位家長的生活費要多少這問題, 當然要視乎你自己的生活水準要求囉

而生活費, 我仔仔住在私人辦的宿舍, 現在每月宿費S$1150 (3-4人一房), 包膳食和洗熨. 其餘再加零用錢/車費/補習費之類.. 這些花費因人而異.. 我仔仔平均每月一萬左右(中學生)

澳洲留學我沒經驗, 兩地生活水準跟環境大不同... 你不如跟小朋友也一起商量一下吧

I have two children, 6 & 7 yrs currently in P1 & P2. We are planning to move to Singapore by this summer. We are not sure how to choose the right school for them. Do we need to pick a school based on where we live? But we don't have an address in Singapore yet. I would like to consider the local schools instead of the international ones. 如果你不是SG的PR, 那小朋友就是international students, 入讀小一學生可以直接contact 心儀的學校, 讀小二開始要考統一入學試 AEIS (詳情): http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/international-students/admissions-exercise/#dates

新加坡小學是一月開始新學期的, 而AEIS在七月開始報名, 考試後由教育部統一派位, 我估計應該是按報住地址派區內的學校, 如果你想小朋友入讀那一區, 可以考慮一下先租住那區的房子或借朋友的住址報名, 但也要考慮之後小朋友上學的車程. 建議你找個假期過去sg 看一看心儀的學校環境

以下是2008年PSLE(小學離校試)的官方資料, 你可以從top students 所讀的學校中大約看到那些是top schools, 可是top school 也代表不容易有位.

在criteria search function裏, school type 如果你選 "SAP", 出來的學校都應該是名校. 你先參考看看

Thanks for your prompt reply. My son will be 9 this coming Sept. He was borned in UK but because of my husband's work placement, we moved to Macau two years ago. He is now studying at an international school in Macau and now at Year 3. I would like him to go to Singapore to study at around 11 or 13 years old.

當年我因為兒子有資優問題而在港又找不到協助,就考獎學金過了新加坡, 覺得課程及教育制度比香港深點及有系統...

如你兒子巳經中三,那應該盡快開始... 最理想是立即過去修讀intensive course然後報考今年10月的AEIS派位試,那明年一月開學時就可以入讀sec 3, 因為新加坡sec 4就要考GCE O-level, 不會收插班生的. 考完O-level根據成績可續升A-level或理工學院等.

May I know which pri school your son was in last time (in Singapore) ? I myself is a Singaporean but my son HK citizenship. I also wish to send my son back to Singapore to study. He is currently in K2 therefore I might go back there this yr. However, since my son is not Singaporean, he can only enter through Phase 3. By then, all those good school had already been taken up. Is it impossible for foreign students to enter into those top school? My target is St. Hilda (East). Does Top school has some applications for Phase 3?

Hi Sim,

my son was in St. Michael School (now St Joseph's Institution Junior)
I think you should know more than me about how difficult to go to top schools even SC
If you can't get into yr favor school in Phase 3, then you may try to apply directly in P.2..

There maybe an opportunity for yr son to knock the door is... has excellent achivement in some area like sports, music... etc
