小兒讀僅K1, 不過我都不太清楚. 遲些 St.cat會有家長日, 希望到時能了解學校多些喇!!

Let me share with you my happiness
My daughter just started K1 this year - i.e. only 2 weeks so far.
Last nite, when I asked her about what she done @ school, she said:
"May I have my tea time plse? Yes you may"
I am so surprised to hear this long full sentence and also the polite answer from her.
At home, I talk w. my daughter 50/50 Cant/Eng so, she is a kind of good at understanding Eng instruction but not that good in making complete sentence.
I am very happy to hear that she had already learnt some English from school. So, I have full confidence in SC about their Eng standard.
For other questions, you can go to SC's forum to seek the answers, they were all been discussed b4.

Similar experience from my girl, she suddenly said, "I am a tiger, I am bad and dangerous!"
I also speak to her 50/50 Cantonese/english before. Although she likes to use Cantonese, she can now say in a full english sentence. (she was born in 11/2006, "small"girl.)

Only 2 weeks time, my daughter loves SC so much already.
I tried to test her by saying she can return to her old nursey kinder, but she rejected me so angryily and firmly. Very funny~

真誇張，據我friend講剩係九龍灣郵政局今朝己經有好多人去寄掛号俾St Cat攞App. Form。郵差見咁多人寄去呢間多口問我个friend至知，重好多人填Eng係左下角。

I think I'll choose Cantonese as my kid understands and speaks Cantonese better. BTW, for the self-addressed envelope, do u think it minds much if only 4*9 inches size is used as I could not find 4.5*9.5.

唔駛擔心, N年前我大囡都係選中文interview, 一樣入到SC, E+已經畢o左業讀緊小二lu! 今年輪到細囡考SC, 我都係選中文interview!
我覺得除非英語相當了得, 否則就唔好太勉強選用英語, 以免答到甩甩cut cut, 想講又唔識表達, 影響仲大! 我唔想因為自己答得唔好連累阿囡入唔到!

O... I just used whatever size i have for envelopes. I don't think they will reject to mail back the application form just because of the size of my envelopes.

I am very worried about this, as I am not sure whether my letter of request sent by mail can really reach the school....

你唔好誤會, 我只係指學校係今次既安排有問題, 只可接受郵寄都唔係問題, 最大問題係連個 deadline 都無, 而且前后都唔夠 4 日再加上中間仲要有個星期六日隔住, 再跟住今日就話派晒 D form.........如果今日先寄出攞Form, 都真係會O 晒咀架

你有所不知, SC受歡迎程度真係嚇C你!!! 想當年我大囡果年出生率低都收到2,3千份報名表, 尤其近呢一兩年報名表限額派發, 都唔知會有幾多個quota, 所以短短幾日已經超額一d都唔奇, 可能有好多人星期五, 六或日親身交信入SC信箱呢? 真係冇人知??? 如果有幸有份面試, 真係要見識下, 面試當日多人到你唔信.....

st.cat要求家長用郵寄方式，一定有原因的。學校已有豐富經驗和系統地去處理收到的信件，我想問學校會否有機會把收到的信以chop印上的日期分類，作為派發申請表的先後次序呢? 因為職員每日都可能收到一大批信，未必即時處理，放埋一邊先的話... ...如果親自送信去，就沒有郵局chop印，到時真係口同鼻拗啊!
我都係覺得跟學校指示by post 較穩陣。

The same. I called to school and the staff said they only accept application by mail, so I just sent the request thru mail. Seems like it's not fair.

上年派form都係先到先得, 我都係幫我姨甥女將封信投入SC信箱, 跟住下個月就收到張form, 好似11月頭面試! 其實自己交form都只係同郵差一樣放入信箱, 冇人出黎收, 所以唔會煩到學校!

The interview date is already scheduled on the school calendar, parents of existing students know this.

Just discussed this with St. Catherine, they told me the message was posted yesterday with the purpose of stopping parents from sending letters to kindergarten for the application form. They are now handling those already mailed in and no further detail can be updated uptill this moment. So for those already sent letter, all we can do is to wait for the application form(if we are lucky). For those who intend to send letter to kindergarten, you may try your luck to see if they have any application form left behind after processing all existing letters.

我估好多家長係星期五寄, 但寄果有可能已經係截佐收件時間, 即係變佐係星期六郵差先會去郵筒收件, 跟住又隔佐個星期日, 所以真係有 D 擔心封信係唔係昨日( 星期一)已經派到學校了

On 11 Sept, i still hesitated to post or send the letter to St Cat mail box personally.
After thinking twice, i decide to send by post because of following its guideline as mentioned on its web site.
I do think St Cat will straight to its guideline, i.e. those will be the 1st priority to get application form if they posted it (with post office stamp on it).
If ST Cat accepts it by personally, no need to request us to get application form by post.

1. 出世紙 copy (右上角寫上聯絡電話)
2. 回郵信封一個 (4.5 * 9.5 吋)with $2.2 stamp
3. $30 支票 (背面寫上學生姓名)
4. 信封面左下角註明 "入學申請" 及 interview 選用語言 (中文 or ENGLISH)
* I do suggest you to write a simple letter to state the reason of late apply, e.g. sudden incident, child sick, take care elderly or else...hope they treat u as a special case. Good luck!

Apart from this, please try to write " explanation letter of late apply or else"; lest they throw the letter into the bins.

No second round form distribution for sure... BK mami just said to check whether we will get a form after saturday once the school has logged the names into the system.
I am sure St. Cat got more forms then expected this year, they will be busy on arranging the existing applications so I must say the chance is really low if you still haven't sent the letter to them.....
I sent the form during weekend, supposed the post office will deliver the letters on Monday.... Would it get any delay if too many letters rushed to St. Cat.....??? Can I check the post office?
