我都覺得考學校好睇學校本身的要求及遇到的老師的喜好.但既然報名了,都希望可以入到第二次面試.

砌lego就容易了,但複述老師所講的故事.我家小孩可能沒興趣.佢中意自己亂講故事...........

我地係第一批(8:15am)見o既，每一批再分五組，每組18人，一組跟一組去課室，家長就留o係禮堂看video。由指定到達時間至小朋友出黎，大約35分鐘，實際面試時間約20分鐘。

According to my last year's experience, no question will be asked.

The teacher will tell a story and ask all 10 boys to repeat the same story. The content is not important and all they want to know is whether your boy has the patience to listen to all 11 same stories...

換個角度，如果我個仔今年都係int SPC, 我o係面試完成前話你聽考d乜，你都唔應該信我，因為我可能會跣你，增加我個仔o既2nd int機會。我亦覺得，咁樣等於偷步睇試題，小朋友唔應該學咁樣走捷徑。

話說回來，不如好好地鼓勵佢，等佢開開心心面試啦!

School management is not dummy. With internet, sharing of interview content/experience is anticipated.

Quite some competitive schools such as Ying Wa have designed their interviews in a way that the performance depends on long term nurturing instead of short term (just in a week or so) interview training.

I think it is more of a mindset problem. Parents should not think that knowing the interview questions (even if it is possible) a little in advance can let them train their children within a very short time - we should never promote the 臨急抱佛腳 attitude. Most interviewers can tell whether the performance is a result of short-term, intensive training or long-term accumulation and penetration.

If a child can be trained so that he/she feels excited about attending an interview, the parents will be half-way to success.

would like to share with you all my last year experience.

1st round interview:  kids are in a group, went into a room and
play sort of Lego (2 in a group).  then teacher will told a story and asked all the boys to repeat the story one by one.  parents were in the hall to watch a video about the school, whole process very smooth and no pressure.

2nd round interview, kid was interviewed by the Principal, asking simple questions, there were some cards on the table, Principal will asked questions based on the cards but required kid have their own points of views.  (That's what I observed. )  No interview for parents, but parents were sitting outside the Principal's room to view the whole process.

使乜咁緊張，比你知晒問題又點？你可以train到個小朋友乜嘢吖。上天俾咗個小朋友你教四、五年，係龍係蟲一早定了形。學校自然會從小朋友各種表現去揀。唔好咁天真啦！

你又幾有道理，知道問題又教小朋友答，都要小朋友吸收及記得，如老師的問題轉了少少或問多句又语同了，要是聰明真係教四五年睇到的了，每個人發展真不同，有人快有人慢，apply more school to interview ,you must find one suitable for your son, good luck all.

I think both interviews are hard and competitive.
As all of you may notice that St. Paul's College Primary School only offers very limited seats while they have more than two thousand applicants, they will only choose those who are really capable and suit the school. Or else, you must be somehow related to the school.

I don't think you should try to predict the questions, cause you cannot even practice. I will say, just try to be what your kid is like, the principal will choose who they want. But mind you, the competition is huge for this school... Do not be too upset if you cannot get a place. But congratulations if you can make it.

Only fewer than 1400 applicants this year, according to the time allocation table for 1st interviews.

"Related" applicants have 10 marks (20%) added to the 1st interview only. No more extra marks for 2nd interview.

The way the answer was given (or not given) is important too, not just the answer itself. E.g. I don't think a child who answered all questions correctly but arrogantly would advance to 2nd interview, whereas a child who politely admitted he did not know the answer would.

I heard that there were 2000 applicants. But anyway, even not 200 applicants, there are 1500 applicants... And notice than they provide fewer seats... so the competition is still huge

唔知大家有冇留意最尾那段:.....10月13日(應收到郵寄第二輪約見資料)尚未獲悉約見資料,請於辦公時間內致電......逾期查詢,恕不獲約見安排

1,388個申請,約300名於第一輪面試表現優異的學生才可進入第二輪面試.
換句話說,即有約1,088名係收唔到通知的,咁10月13日能打通電話嗎?!

我就唔會等到最後一日先至打去查詢，好似你話齋，電話可能打唔通；我家過往郵遞無大問題，6/10(wed)寄信出黎無理由11/10(mon)仍然收唔到，所以我就會12/10就打去問。

This is different from (and better than) previous year's practice, where only those advancing to 2nd interviews received notifications and the rejected candidates would only receive notification when admission was announced.

Called the school today, they said parents will receive a letter from them in the next few days.

We are not very nervous...the chance is as slim as winning 1st prize of Mark Six, so why worry too much :)

don't think your son's chance is slim....my son told me that many boys refuse to tell story and did not co-operate on the interview day, I also saw 2 boys crying.

btw, which school you choose for the govt P1 Admission? I choose St. Joseph and I think the chance is dim...

My son told me all the children in his group of 6 were willing to tell the story and most answered the teachers quite well.

He has never been one of the top ones in class, either in behaviour, competition performance or fluency. As the 1st interview only selects 1 out of 5 (300:1388), it would be at least worth a 2nd prize in Mark Six if he could advance to the next round.

I received the 1st reject letter from st paul boys, burst into tears and my heart is broken and getting hurt. As my son is the top one in the class as you mentioned. He is extremely polite and good boy. Everyone around him said he is so smart and excellent so that's why I believe that's the truth. And the main point is he loves St Paul Boys so much. As he passed the school near everyday and he said he wants to study here in his primary school life. Really depressed and can't stop my tears coming out........

I think I won't tell this cruel truth to him

Don't be so sad and this is just the begining. Trust your son and more good schools are waiting for him. Agree that don't the tell your son about this result now as many interviews are coming.

I received the rejection letter a while ago too.

Just a little disappointed, but there is still a long way to go. If you need to shed some tears, go for it. Don't be sad for too long, because as parents we need to sort out our emotions quickly and move on to face other interviews.

As I said in an earlier post, getting a place in St Paul Boys is like winning the 2nd prize of Mark Six. If you had not won the 2nd prize before, you need not be too upset.

no big deal, really. I received over a handful of rejection letters in just 1 month last year. But at the end, very very late, got accepted by a good school. ADD OIL!

唉！今晚OT到9點幾，返到屋企成10,11點，but husband check咗仲未有信。知道自己个仔係叻果隻, but who know what would happen during interview… and being observe。
但做父母的, always think our kid is the best & should be accepted by any school especially those "super good school" but the fact is....

真是好討貪玩這個爭櫈仔遊戲....但好無奈!一日音樂未停,都唔知到自己仔仔可唔可以爭到張櫈?既然置身其中,為有自我調節心態,一切以平常心去看待,不要太過介懷,把得失看得太重而影響到小朋友.

I know 10 marks has been given to those applicants who have relations to the school. Thus, the chance is comparatively slim if you don't have this 10 marks (just like me)....interview除左睇表現, 都仲要講下眼緣, 同學校有無緣份. 就算結果係點, 我都覺得囝囝做得好好

【明報專訊】畢業於名校聖保羅書院及港大文學院的財務顧問，投身社會多年卻未能找到穩定工作，職位雖為「財務經理」，但月薪連佣金僅5000元，他為增收入，潛入學校偷課本轉售，結果身陷囹圄。

被告楊嘉傑（34歲）昨在區院承認3項爆竊罪，他更被揭在擔任私人補習教師時在學生家中偷竊，去年初被判160小時社會服務令。

債主滋擾家人父患抑鬱

律師昨透露，被告自98年於港大畢業後，每份工都做不長，薪金每每只得數千元，孝順的被告為免雙親擔心，仍給3000元家用，並隱瞞捉襟見肘的財政狀况。被告向財務公司及高利貸借貸，令家人受盡債主滋擾，雙親晴天霹靂，父親後來患上抑鬱症。去年4月正式破產的被告為了多掙幾個錢，四處向中學收購舊教科書轉售，惟只得數百元利潤，最終走上歪路。

攜大鉗潛入學校

法官強調案件令人惋惜，被告受過高深教育，卻屢次犯案，雙親失望可想而知，他輕判被告入獄16個月，希望被告日後好好利用學歷重新做人，做個真正的孝順仔。

案發於黃大仙可立中學，9名學生於去年12月發現，鎖於校內儲物櫃的34本書被竊，價值逾4000元。校方報警並翻看閉路電視，發現被告曾於有關日子在校內出現。其後，校工發現被告從後門進入校園，即通知正在校內查案的警方，被告被搜出身上有大鉗及該校學生的練習簿。

don't be upset. If you have no hopes, your son will feel your unhappy face. He will be upset too. Take these interviews as a training game for your little son. If he is good, the wide and bright road is always in front of him!! Cheers.

The other three I have no hope in entering so I just let my son to play there as a game. Dont worry, I can hide my upset feeling very well in front of my son. As least in this stage, he is still a cheerful and lovely kid with a attractive smile! Always give me a big kiss everywhere causing me embarrassed. Haha! Thanks!

I don't have any relation with the school. My son is a small boy (born in late Oct) and my elder daughter is studying in private primary school in Kowloon.

Sometimes I think luck may be important. For the son, firstly I don't have too much hope. Maybe this is the second time I face this game and I will take it easy. I haven't tell my son (even my daughter last time) where he will go and what should he do. I just tell him to go in to play and cannot talk with others when teachers are asking question, that all.

So I think, take it easy may be the best way for us and for our children.

Rejection letter received today

If it's my son's destiny not to be accepted by this school, I prefer being rejected after the 1st In rather than the 2nd In. So, I will now count it as a blessing.

今天收到拒絶信.

沒有不高興,因當時根本不知校方是如何面試孩子.家長與小孩分開兩處,雖說是5歲多的小孩,但在一個陌生的環境下與家長分開,還要面對老師們的評核,已不容易.

當見到孩子满面笑容地走下來時,我已為他的從容而高興.

小一只是開始,只要他仍是如斯自信地學習.相信他也會有好的收穫.正所謂天生我才必有用嘛!

若他考到st. paul boys,我反而要考慮是否讓他讀男校還是男女校了.

如今既然考不上,就安心讓他讀官/津校算了.

I agree, it's absolutely not easy for them to go through all those interviews.

And they always give us a smile after each interview to hide their fears or pressure.

No matter what's the result, i think they've done their best.
