The significance of relationship for St Stephen's seems to be much less than schools like St Paul's Co-ed.

Just called the school this morning:

1. They (the front-line callers) will keep calling the eligible candidates as soon as they receive the candidates' eligibility from the principal.

2. The 2nd interview date for which the callers are currently calling candidates is 13 Nov.

3. They reiterated that the school has not finished calling all candidates, but no indication was given on when they will finish calling.

The school said they won't give up calling the eligible parents until they can reach the parents.

Your hubby is right though. However, some schools are more considerate than others when it comes to dealing with parents. St Stephen's staff have always been helpful to me and my wife when we call them up to ask for information.

在上星期我都有打了幾個電話給5間學校問second interview安排，SSCPS的員工真的好有禮貌，她的態度總算為天使的聲音，叫人聽得舒服，因為其他4間學校的態度真的大大不同。坦白說，SSCPS都說不出怎麼具體資料或日期，最起碼都叫申請人有一份被尊重的感覺。

It seems that somebody said I have something wrong to spread this news. I can guarantee this is 100% true but my friend's kindergarten is closely relted to SSCPS and SPCC. They may have different treatment other than us.

Hi received letter today for second interview on Nov 18th. First interview on Oct 10th. Unrelated. Didnt get any phone calls as some suggested prior to receiving the letter. Good luck everyone.

Same here. Does anyone know how many they shortlisted? Both parents have to attend with the child....does anyone know the format? Since it's the first year that they are doing this, maybe we will need to wait till after the first day of second interview and find out from those parents....

the headmistress said they will invite 300 students for the second interview. Figure they have 100 slots for P1, chances will be 33%. This is more of less similar to other local schools I guess.

Received letter for 2nd interview today (unrelated),

I called earlier on today and was told that they would be calling / sending out letters in batches till January. So, still have hope!

No missed call for us for sure. I don't think they need to call if the interview date is more than 2 weeks from the date of the letter anyway.

SSCPS confirms that their P1 has 3 classes and there are 99 students for P1 altogether.

SSCPS , P1 has 99 students. Each class (P1 to P6) is 33 students, half girls, half boys.
Total students =594 students
More than 20 school buses cover Hong Kong Island and the pick up time is 7:05am. to 7:35am.

Not sure why the school prolongs the 2nd interview process to as long as the claimed 2 months. Common sense tells me a task should be completed as soon as possible so that other tasks can be focused on. There may be other reasons overriding this "common sense", but I doubt if anyone knows this "confidential" reason. :)

我知道SSCPS校長會好認真選擇2nd interview名單，校務處話一有時間就安排面試，每次不一定見太多人。

有些SSCPS家長話每個2nd interview都好誠懇，旨在給雙方機會彼此了解。我比較喜歡這種形式，至少學校和申請人都可深入一些，有利大家考慮這個選校選生的决定。

校長Agnes WAI在briefing都強調會盡量review申請人的portfolio和school report card，希望可以更全面評估小朋友的能力。如果她真的做得到，我就更加欣賞SSCPS了。

我同意申請SSCPS時實在要有超級耐性，絕對巧驗信心，我都希望SSCPS可以改善這個情況。坦白說，這種面試形式，對SSCPS不利，因為肥水已入別人田。

不過，我都參加過其他interviews，家長和小朋友都只得5至10分鐘時間，太過濫竽充數啊。Interviews後都不知道成功機會有多少。結果，由2nd interview到出結果，又是一個等字，或再加一個估字。SSCPS的等和其他學校的等，不相伯仲。

想深一層，其實家長都有好多不同選擇，此家不成往別家。最壞打算，努力到明年8-9月罷！在12月前收到offer(s)，都不一定是最終决定。畢竟，人望高處，水往低留嘛！最重要清楚哪裡屬於小朋友的高處及家長所能付出的高處條件。

BK家長，繼續努力，不要做阿水呀！

"SPCC offer the 2nd interview chance for ALL "XX Hill" kids" - really, especially for Group 4 candidates (my son is one of them)? I have heard such a rumour but I don't have a verifiable source to confirm it.

If what you are saying is true, it will seem that SSCPS is positioning itself behind SPCC and DB/GS, so that they want to reduce the number of drop-outs by delaying the announcement of admission results until SPCC and DB/GS finish giving out offers. (Otherwise, it will be the other way round, i.e. the drop-outs will be from SPCC or DB/GS even if they make offers earlier.)

Using the demand-supply theory, it seems that more parents favour the traditional schools to more innovative schools such as SSCPS.

Oh, my typo mistake, it shoudl read "SSCPS offer the 2nd interview chance for ALL...", not SPCC.

Of course, we cannot deny the chidlren at 'XX ' are very smart and which is worth to give the 2nd interview chance.

My son is a bit reserved and not very outspoken. His only advantage is probably not being nervous in front of teachers or principals when asked questions.

Just called the school. The staff said that they won't send out the letters in rounds. As soon as the principal passes the names of the candidates for 2nd interview to them, they will send out the letters. Moreover, they are not sending out the letters according to the 1st interview date. A little bit relieved for me...

I have a gut feeling that only HK side students got the invitation for second interview.

It's always advisable to call the school for doubts about interview arrangements. For one of the schools (not SSCPS), because of their lack of transparency in the interview notification dispatch and calling arrangements, I have called them more than 5 times within one month to obtain useful information and clarifications. I just wonder how hard it is to add a few lines in the "news and events" section of their web sites indicating when they start and finish sending interview notifications, when they start and finish calling eligible parents, etc. It is not a lot to ask from the school and it can relieve parents' worries and anxiety considerably.

HK Island here.

I doubt whether the school has special preference to Island residents. The quality of the children counts more.
