蔡繼有學校首戰IGCSE奪佳績

保  良  局  蔡  繼  有  學  校  校  長  劉  筱  玲  表  示  ，  該  校  首  次  參  與 IGCSE 取  得  佳  績  ，  其  中  一  名  女  生  更  考  獲  十  一  科 A* 或 A 。


　　最近一期國際普通中學教育文憑試（IGCSE）今日放榜，保良局蔡繼有學校創校九年首次應考，三十三名學生成功奪得一百四十八個A*或A的佳績，其中一名女生考獲十一科A*或A。校長劉筱玲稱，曾擔心學生因「一條龍」原校升學而未能應付公開試，今次取得佳績證明該校的愉快學習教學方式奏效。

　　該校今年有三十三名十年級（相等於中五）學生應考IGCSE，是○二年創校以來的首次。校長劉筱玲透露，該校首戰IGCSE即獲得佳績，達C級或以上成績比例高達九成二，學生取得一百四十八個A*或A佳績，一名應考十一科的女生更考獲全A，其中九科更獲A*，成為該校首屆IGCSE狀元，另一名男生則取得十科A位列「榜眼」，此外，分別有兩人及三人考獲九科A及八科A。

　　保良局蔡繼有學校是本港首所中小學「一條龍」私校，第一至八級屬學校自編課程，雖然平日也有默書測驗，但第六至八級的初中階段是開卷考試。

　　劉校長不諱言，學生從未經歷公開試洗禮，曾擔心他們未能適應，但事實證明學生只要努力仍能克服，「愉快學習未必無效果的，不等於沒有投入與努力」。

　　她指學生在第九級時才報考IGCSE，但考試在今年四、五月間已開始，課程準備與施教亦較為倉卒，因此，校方計畫日後提早在第八級為同學準備應考，而明年將有逾百名學生應考。

　　這批學生大部分在九月升讀該校首辦的國際文憑大學預科課程（IB），劉校長表示，已增聘多名具海外IB教學經驗的教師來港執教，而校內二十名教師亦已接受相關培訓，有信心把課程辦好。

My son still in the same DSS school (another school), but no CKY.

My question based on curiosity, nothing offensive.

My son will take year 1 IBDP in another school after summer, I talked to different people and got some ideas about EE & TOK. Also, my son won't take the IGCSE or GCE-AL, even he may study in UK.

I guess extensive reading and learn some basic research methodologies also very helpful in EE & TOK.

Just curiosity, some parents mentioned that taking more IGCSE subjects can benefit the IBDP students, particularly in EE & TOK subjects. Pls elaborate the rationale behind.

A concrete comment, IGCSE has a wide range of choices and schools can pick more subjects depends on internal resources and subjects popularity.  CKY has add'l  'Performing Art' and 'Business Studies' for the coming year IGCSE classes.

是的，igcse的面廣，模式更像ibdp.對以后的tok/ ee等需大量書寫的課程有幫助。

各位，
在CKY的網頁裏，About CKY => Unique features of the curriculum => IGCSE as an exit point，我想知道是否所有同學均可以升讀Year11或是有多少個同學自願或被勸籲離開CKY？

學校為學生准備igcse是好事，igcse可做為16+的exit exam,不是人人都想或都可以讀IB。讓學生有一紙證書傍身。新派\直資不走這路很難表現自己。

Found SPC year 2010-2011 School Plan in their website:
Academic Goals -
At the IGCSE level, we anticipate 80% passes in all the four core subjects, English, Chinese, Mathematics and Religious Studies. In addition, we will work towards at least 70% passes in Grade E/Level 2 in all other subjects.

There were 207 students in Form 4 attending 2010 IGCSE.  More than 50 students with 6A* above.  They got 777 A* in total., average 3.75 A* per student.  I can only retrieve the distribution of A* from their website. Is it good?
