I remember in the 2nd interview, the teachers asked my daughter some general questions like what her hobbies were and what other schools she had applied to; and they just chatted with us parents without really asking us any questions. I think they just want to see what kind of parents we are and if we're reasonably polite and supportive.
But my information may not be current enough as my daughter is already a senior former in SPCS.
Yes, academic results are the most important criterion for admission and students with outstanding performance in sports, visual art, etc. are of course advantaged (but my daugher didn't have these talents) but appicants' manners and performance in book report presentations also count. I agree it's better for your daughter to choose books she loves. They may also ask the candidates to read aloud an English passage. So your daughter needs some practice at home for the presentations and reading aloud unless she's a very spontaneous presenter and English speaker.
