GS - Even in P4, all vocab is given, only need to copy.
(but I agree that copying = more mistakes than spelling)

DEAR ALL,
上學期己完結, 回顧今年, so far 都覺得仔仔在愉快的學習氣氛下, 學術上有很大的進步. 以個人為言, 覺得小一英文科程同往年差不多, 其實某方面可以做得更配合家長需要.

我想說的是其實學校為什麼不像高年班一樣, 統一早些告知TEST的日期,以便家長同小朋友溫習SPELLING 或不會缺席.因上學期英文課程與學習進度表不附(當然這亦與小一新生適應新環境有關), 可能是老師叫溫SPELLING的兩三個星期後才有TEST, 在不知幾時會TEST的情況下家長很難做準備, 據知有些小朋友拿了很低分, 這很打擊他們的自信.如在TEST前一兩天溫SPELLING,他們一定不會這麼低分. 要評估小朋友上課是否專心, 其實不預先通知的PASSWORD己足夠.

以上只係我個人的感覺. 唔知你地對TEST的睇法又如何呢?  覺得事先通知好還是突擊TEST好呢?

Hi Tingmum,

I guess the school's arrangement is not to push P1 students so hard. That's why P1 students do not have TOBS for Maths as well.

My strategy is that in case I can squeeze some time, I'll ask my daughter to spell all the words. Besides, I'll also go through her worksheets once again to ensure she understands them periodically.

Hi Principal,

Long time no talk.

I totally agree with you that kids need to spell the vocabularies. That's why I ask my P1 daughter and P4 daughter to spell all the key words in GS books. Besides, it is the best time to push them to do more spelling during exam period.

Agree with your comments.

I think P.1 pupils are even younger so it will be a good idea for the teachers to post the dates of dictation or small tests in the e-class so the parents can know these dates in advance and have adequate time to prepare for it with their kids.

I believe most kids can do it if they can start it earlier.

For P.3, the dates for the Chinese & English dictation as well as the TOBS are quite accurate so far.

Without knowing the dates in advance, I don't think our children will be willing to study by their own initiatives and we parents cannot assist them at the right timing.

You meant your daughter has those english worksheets on hand so that you can do the revision with her periodically?

In my class, most of our worksheets were done in school and kept by English teacher.  We only got them all one week before the exam date.

Yes, I've got them periodically. My girl is in 1E. Her English teacher usually tells them when to have the spelling so I can do most of the spelling in advance with her. But I missed one or two as I didn't have time or my daughter forgot to tell me. Of course I have no idea about the passwords and tests. I was lucky enough that I guessed one password to be conducted in a particular week correctly.

Hi Principal,

A lot easier now. Very unlucky that my exam crashed with my girls. As usual, there needed to have trade offs. My girls have told me some of the results. One was quite good and the other was not very satisfactory. Hope your kid has good news for you.

Luckily, the results my child told me so far are still "okay".

1) Have you sought for professional advice for your son yet?
Looks like some prompt action needs to be taken on your son's case.

2) You really need to take care of your own health.
Can your husband help you a bit in doing revision for your children.
Sometimes I feel that you are too busy all the time.
The accumulated stress and pressure might not be felt so easily.
Prolonged stress and pressure are not good for your health in the long run.

Past two weeks were nightmares.
I still have one more exam to go. can't rest yet. However, since I just finished one yesterday and is too exhauted, so, I'm taking a break and that's why I'm here. :)
