阿囡尋日in完IC，話表現好差，心情太緊張，好簡單嘅問題都腦海一片空白答唔到。

唯有安慰佢收拾心 ...

She applied for chemical engineering right? Did she need to attend any written test too? I heard some subject need to attend written test (may be maths or aptitude test) too!

Don't worry too much, all kids will perform the same.

Which other Uni she applies too?

Oh. doesn't matter la. interviewers may not feel that same. And it's nevertheless a good experience, preparing her for the Cambridge interview.
Is she taking the Cambridge exams next week?

冇written test。其他有Cambridge, Bath等等。non jupas都會報。

我都係咁諗，係阿Q咗D，但都係事實。
下星期考Cambridge呀，都唔知佢有冇溫書。

冇問題，加油！
經我哋催促，阿仔終於有初步想法：大學選科最prefer Cambridge 的Natural Science ，沒有Natural Science 的就take Chemistry或Physics，最好有個mix 喎（因為佢兩科之間未揀到）。例如Imperial 的 Chemistry with Molecular Physics.

想問如果係咁大家仲會揀邊幾間大學？personal statement 係咪可以generic d講對physical science 有濃厚興趣？

Cambridge only has Natural Science to cover Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, etc. Students will choose their subject interest when they get into Cambridge. This is what my daughter has applied.

Yes ah. That's exactly why my son wants to apply for this course as he has equal interest in chemistry and physics and math now. So what courses does your daughter apply for with other universities? And what other universities does she apply for?

I know she has also applied Imperial for chemistry and will have interview in Nov. I can't remember the others  but she mentioned one in Scotland.

University of Edinburgh? My son also mentioned about that being quite high in ranking. He went there last month in school trip and quite liked the place (I mean Edinburgh not the U)

I think so. I just leave it to her to choose the universities. I know she did some research and probably got some advice from her subject teachers.  She only mentioned she won't pick London if she have a choice.

想請問如果target Natural Science (Chemistry / Physics) 或 Engineering (未知揀咩 stream), typically UCAS 的5個choices會係邊幾間？ Assume predicted grades 夠報考Oxbridge, Imperial, 咁insurance choice 會揀邊d大學？
因為我見even typical offers for natural sciences at Manchester, Edinburgh, Durham 都要A*AA-AAA, 咁當佢地係insurance係咪都會太高？萬一失手攞個B就......

我會試 oxford 工程, 升year 13 暑假實習及做oxford 工程十年past papers

及試找70-80年代年alevel 卷來操

natural science oxford chem 不用面試, 影響了機會

natural science  爭的人多, 因為不用further maths 或IB hl maths

而工程, 飾選了一批數學差的人

cambridge 工程  的面試的題目 就似如下

找相關題目去操練

選college, 選最難入那間

港大做safe school

改制, 所以校內成績極重要

year 12 考 c1,c2,c3,c4,m1,s1 的成績, 及校內預測成績  決定有冇面試

engineering 可以選natural science year 3 選科時

但natural science 卻不能選engineering的科

想問engineering 為什麼選Oxford 而不是Cambridge 或Imperial?
我個仔有讀double math 同phy, chem. Phy, Chem 成績應該比Maths 好，但Maths 應該也能拿A*(如無意外）。
看typical offer 同 admission ratio, 好似natural science 比engineering 易，但你說你會「拾易取難」揀engineering ,是很有趣的觀點！願聞其詳！

但oxford 工程 準備的題目會較多

我舉例,  準備oxford 工程時, 可以用1992-2015年oxford  maths past papers 入學試再加  oxford phy past papers(2006-2015年)

cambridge 工程準備時, 你只有極少的題目去準備





更正少少

oxford chem 不用筆試, 要面試
oxford phy 不如 報oxford 工程
cambridge natural science 要面試, 要筆試, 個別學院, 考試模式不同

你選難的colleges, 衰左, 其他次一等 的colleges 有機會收

因為衰, 是因為對手太勁 , 其他colleges 會睇衰左學生的resumes, 岩的話

會收, 例如報 trinity , 衰左,  king's 有機會睇岩, 就收



你選水平一般的colleges, 衰左,  不會收


oxford 工程 要考pat

而pat 考試的report 詳細, 考生能力
