11. 功課
a. 學校功課 - My Nursery Book, 學習樂趣多, 線條鍊習 - 反正是上課是做, 家長基本不用理會

b. 家課 - 線條鍊習, 親子樂(1),  親子樂(2) - 所有家課是派發翌日交回, 做有印上日子的一頁, 學校是想家長跟孩子一齊做
   (i) 線條鍊習 - 逢週三派, 週四交 (由10月開始) - 必須用鉛筆劃, 劃好後可以填色(可以不填)
   (ii) 親子樂(1) - 逢週五派, 下週一交 (由10月開始)
   (iii) 親子樂(2) - 逢週四派, 週五交 (據說是從1月開始)

c. 我的故事習(文件夾)
從10月開始, 學校週五發圖書, 家長在家跟小朋友一起看, 週一交回.
好像從1月開始, 除了發發圖書, 亦會發相關的工作紙, 家長在家跟小朋友一起完成, 亦是週一交回工作紙.
老師改完之後, 就發回給小朋友拿回家, 放入我的故事習(文件夾)內.

12. 請假
a. 事假 - 可以寫在手冊, 發信或致電學校請假 (提早)
b. 病假 - 上學前致電學校請假
如請假一天, 知會學校即可, 不用證明.  
如請假兩天或以上, 除知會學校外, 須(a)醫生紙; (b) 醫生信證明已康復 - 共2類文件.

13. 生日會
注意生日會的那一天只上課2小時, 家長須提早接孩子. 舉行生日會的日期見手冊封面背頁.
當天不用帶荼點食物, 但仍要帶所有荼點用具, 加上一隻叉

14. 評估
a. 據說英文課沒有考試, 也沒有formal assessment.
b. 中文在下學期舉行一次assessment, 主要對孩子的中文、數學、顏色、其他概念等作評估.
c. 每學期有一次成績表, 主要是觀察日常表現, 而下學期的成績應該加入評估結果.

陪仔女返了２天學，你們有什麼感覺？

1. 首2天的安排

我不太喜歡這2天的安排, 主要是因為如果學校有這麼多事項要跟新生的家長交待, 何不開學前安排新生家長日? 相信家長不會介意為了新入學的子女多花一天半天的時間吧?

這2天本來是十分重要, 因為這是想了解一下學校上課模式, 老師的領導能力, 尤其在情緒控制方面的處理的唯一時機.欠缺了這個機會, 我覺得學校好像有點 "黑箱" 的感覺. (況且兩小時根本不夠家長消化資料)

機緣之下, 我本人親身參與了2間幼稚園的開學安排（不計St. cat.), 他們都起碼可以讓家長看到一次整天的過程. 須知親身體會比學校說明強很多. 現在只能是 "相信" 學校.

2. 持續評估
st. cat 不設持續評估. 我個b以前讀的pre-nursey 每個月有一份評估報告, 英文老師寫一份, 中文老師寫一份, 雖每項目分4等級(漸能學習, 在學習中, 初步掌握, 已能掌握), 我覺得跟我們在家裡的觀察是十分吻合, 也是同時提醒我們在家如果配合小朋友的發展.
一年下來, 亦可以看到小朋友在每在項目的發展.
我覺得st. cat. 半年才有一份不足夠.好似交行貨.

3. 家長會面日
說到行貨, 家長會面日認真是行貨. 因為今天班主任已聲明每人只有10分鐘時間. 我覺得學校在這一方面的安排好像欠缺誠意, 10分鐘不知夠佢講定夠我講? 希望是我聰錯罷了.

4. 校車
主要是安全問題...不過我想我要在沒有家長陪同的日子去實地觀察才再提出問題 - 另一topic再議.

5. 英文老師(net):原來d英文老師係同隔離班share,即係唔係長駐係班房.

6. 上課時的人數比例: kinder 的要求是1:15.
教統局網原文如下:

由2004/05學年起，各幼稚園均須在規定的教學人員編制（以1比15的師生比例計算）內，須聘用100%合格幼稚園教師。為使教師有更多的時間照顧個別兒童，由2003/04學年開始幼稚園的師生比例須達至1:15或更低的水平。

我個b是purple, 共38人, 分purple A. purple B. 有時是一齊上, 有時是分開上. 一齊上時的猜有3位都師, 即Purple A 班主任,  Purple B 班主任, NET. 人數比例應該OK. 但如果分班活動, 上中文主題課時NET在鄰班, 在場好像只有1位老師, 比例就好似不夠1:15的要求?

暫時是這麼多, 不知大家覺得如何?

To my experience, St. Catherine is a very experience kinder.  My daughters both crying in the first day school.
But if you listen the teachers' advise, you will so fair to change them.
You can see how they grow when they're baby.  Child need around several months to adopt and get along with the new envoirment especailly kindergarten.
The first parents' day is very important after the first term.  You will receive a portfoilo how they did at the school.
You will know this is a good kinder how they spent their effort when your child apply the Primary school.
I only say they're different.

My son is in N Red (BP) b group - English and Mandarin class. My comments:

1) Same as you, I have no chance to see how the teacher manage the emotion or behavioural issues in class. I think this is important.


2) English teacher is shared with group A.
I find it is hard to figure out how they group child and the ratio of student to teacher.

Our class schedule
8:25-8:50 Welcome
8:50- 9:15 English
9:10-9:30 topics
9:30-10:30 Grouping
10:30-10:50 Tea
10:50-11:10 Music
11:10 -11:30 Playground
11:30-11:50 Chinese
11:50-12:15 Bye Bye

很高興在這裡認識st.catherine's家長。
我陪囝囝返左兩日學, 現在最concern的是兩點:
1. 師生比例: st. Cat真的收很多很多學生, 一班2x至3x人, 不知兩位老師能否同時應付..而且,課室真係好細..

2.英文老師:原來我個仔的英文老師係同隔離班share,即係唔係長駐係班房

黎緊個parent briefing都想問下呢d問題..

My child is in Purple a, I think you child is just next to my child's room (but u r AM & mine is PM):)

I think St. Cat.'s arrangement for NET is a bit disappointing, in fact.  I am expecting the NET to be one of the class teachers (ie will stay in the class for the whole day) but now they are sharing even among classes.

By the way, for N purple, I heard that there are 21 in Purple A and 17 in Purple B, totally 38 students in the whole Purple class.  And there are 1 PTH teacher for Purple A, another PTH techer for Purple B, and the NET will go around between 2 classes.  I remember that the teacher to student ratio is 1:15 for kinder.  It is still ok when the Purple A+B joint together, but I just wonder if it is ok when they are working separately. Any K2/K3 parent can share this with me?
