can't agree more on some parents expressed the confusing answers from school.  Really don't understand why don't they simply send out reject letters to those who are certain to be rejected.  It's really torturing.  And also do not understand why it takes so long to select 99 lucky kids and the funniest is that it seems headmistress Mrs Wai is still selecting !

Exactly what we got the same message within these few days from our calls to the school.

Though I tend to think that all should have been sent if for administrative conveniecne, we are still waiting  ...

I don't mind to be minority.
Even my husband would prefer DBS, but not bcos of its brand name. Rather, it is because it is much nearer to our home and his main concern is the money involved in moving home, and the trouble and the transport and stanley is v v v far to his workplace.

anyway, I have got no offer from both schools, so all I said is only "day-dreaming" and comparing based on "no offer". So dear other parents pls don't mind if I am saying so, just my personal judgement and feeling.

what my concern abt DBS is: school only teach a little bit, and very quickly, and exam is so difficult and in-depth; while the school expect the student has to learn a lot from elsewhere e.g. private tutoring.
Just hearsay, pls correct me if i am wrong.

I learnt from a friend that they received a letter from SSCPS this week informing them that thank you for their application and the school is still under the selection process and no more.

Would it be a kind of indirect rejection as I did not aware of the same from the discussion of SSCPS in previous years in BK.

Can anyone know and share?

If SSCPS is the dream school for your child, write to the Principal sincerely to express your interest. By doing so, your child would be placed at a higher priority of the waiting list.

Interview is not an accurate method for selecting right children. Some kids are well trained for interview so they get higher chance. While some kids are rather slow to warm up but they are in fact brillant and smart. Hence, being placed at the waiting list doesn't mean that your kid is not good enough. So, as a parent, try your best to strive for another chance for your kid.  Write the letter to your dream school and bless for good luck.

Schools would not tell you that they admitted your children is because of your letters! So, what kind of proof you want?

As a parent, you just evaluate what are the costs of writing a letter (your time, your effort, your self-dignity?) and what are the potential benefits you MAY get (say a higher PROBABILITY of admittance). If you think the cost is higher than the benefit, then just ignore this message. Otherwise, do so and no regret.

I've asked the student helper on the day of interview, "is there any classmates live in Kowloon side?" he said "yes", but they have to take school bus before 6:00am!!

Yes, boarding education is compulsory in Grade 6 (though I knew some students had applied for exemption successfully due to family reasons). Some parents may not like it. So, think over it before registration.

By the way, I like the concept of boarding education in which all-round education is provided. And it is one of the reasons that I like this school. You may refer to the school website for more information.

I also like the boarding edu very much: one of the reason I like this school so much.

I still remember the days I have my boarding student life (at age 16, still very immature at the beginning, about how to get along with others, how to become independent, missing families but pretending to be strong, struggling among academic works, etc. Happy and unhappy memories, challenges and dreams, etc.............finally I learnt a lot from my boarding life and become more mature at the end)
I wish if my son has got the same chance to experience "life" also.

But all is just dreaming, the chance for him to get into this school is so dim.........

School bus cover HK island only. Only nanny bus pick up the kid from Kowloon, Hung Hom 7:20am and West Kln.

The School is accept half boys and half girls for G1 this year 2009-2010.
Class Ratio is 16:17, pretty fair.

littlemak, don't feel discouraged, maybe you will get the letter soon after Nov23! After Nov, you will have a much clearer picture as most of the top schools will have released the results as well as the big lucky draw.

I heard that the secondary school has changed to DSS for 2 years and with a new school Principal too. Anyone knows which band is St Stephens secondary and how things go under the DSS?

I know one G1 girl is living in Homantin and get on at 7:05 a.m.  There is a Kowloon nanny bus for St Stephen but can't find on the website.  If you want me, I cam pm you the number and ask for further info.
