St. Johannes College Interview

I like to share the interview experiance with SJC today.

We got to the school at 10:35 and the interview was schedued for 11:00. Staff at the front door showed a very welcome face. Someone opening the cab door for us.

My view of the school:
1. The student assistant are extremely well behave and helpful.
2. Before the interview they let kids to play toys in the courtyard. However there were only two slections lego and kitchen ware. (I think they didn't provide much toys here because we were in the primary school.) My daughter was not patient playing under the sun.
3. There are no toys available in the classroom.
4. The interviewer are very nice and the process was efficient.
5. The school tour was also well arranged, but we couldn't get much useful information from it.

Overall I do like this KG because their school premises are nice. Teachers are friendly, students are well trained.

Can any other mummy share your experience too?

Yes, i also have the same experience and feeling.  And i feel it is a very high english standard school and hope it can accept my daughter for K1.

I went there today. Very good English environment. Even the Cantonese teacher speak Eng well! All the staff are caring & nice, gave me a pleasant feeling.

My daughter had attended the interview today also, and my wife loves this school very much after the interview.

Same as everyone views, we thought the students are very nice and polite.

Can anyone comment on the Flint Road's campus? It seems the facilities of this campus is so out-dated, and the outdoor area is a bit dangerous for the kids.  Also, the classrooms, which they didn't allow me to go in, are not well furnished when comparing with other kinder in Kln Tong.  
I have some hesitation in choosing this school, although the "software" of this school matches with our expectation.

Can Janjet please kindly give us some advices?  Many Thanks !

Hi everyone, how were your kids evaluated during the interview process? I mean, I liked the "supermarket" idea where moms helped kids picking up the objects shown in the four pictures given by the staff. However, I think the "interviewer" did a very rush job. She simply just asked my son to give her three out of the four objects and then she told us we were free to go. My son did OK, he passed over all three objects accurately but I kind of think the whole thing ended too quickly.

The teaching staff who showed us the pictures was there with us all the time, so she probably was also observing the mom-kid interaction throughout the process.  If that's the case, then I feel more comfortable with the evaluation process. But that's just my guess anyways.

Although I think my son did quite OK today, I am not having high hopes again. He previously attened an interview where I think he was the happiest kid who responsed very well to all questions thrown at him, but then we received a letter saying "nah...we don't want your kid". Well, not exactly in those words but to me that was quite a big surprise.

There has been situations where he basically just ignored the interviewers all together but got accepted in the end. That puzzles me too! How this "interview game" is really being played here in HK...to be honest, I am clueless...

me too. I like the school alot. but the way they conduct the interview surprised me.  Two of my pictures were chips and chocolate. Damn, i mean, my son never had tasted any of these before and thus wouldn't know what they are.  Also, the chinese girl that following us was horrible.  First, she doesn't speak English at all. Second, she looked like she hated my son and 'black face' on my son.  i dont' know what the chances are, but i don't think my son did well.

The primary school is sooooo small. Anyone one know how's the primary school & how many P1 class there, is the primary will accept all from kinder?

Yes, the interview is very rush...But so far the impression of the teachers is good ... My husband friend study in this school long long time ago and he can enter the primary after graduation of kindergarten.
Did the teacher remind the date for receiving the reply letter?

Yes, the interview teacher said goodbye very sincerely, returned the interview slip with smile, then reminded me the date of notice (listed at the back of the slip) clearly.
