Even in EMI schools, English is still used as second language.  Teachers use English + Cantonese to explain, textbooks are in English.  So there is no surprise that 英中生英語能力遜母語!

Agree with you, yet even if adding foreign students, it only ensure that the teaching language is English.  For social language, students always like to play with those speaking the same languages, the more they grow up the more this will be, so adding foreign students won't help much in secondary schools.  Students will use English to social only if they have got used to it since they were small.

Oh, it is a very different thing if you talk about dating... they will learn whatever language or skills they need to reach their target!!

Yes, a lot of DSS or private schools now use a lot of native English teachers to teach local Chinese students.  Some parents said that English of these kids taught by NET of these schools such as CKY, St. Margaret Co-ed are better than those taught by local English teachers in DSS such as TSL, Baptist, Pui Kiu etc. Don't know if this is true.

Or maybe the teaching methods used by different schools have a great impact on the students??
