劍橋(Starters)速成班

請問有冇人知道那裏有劍橋Starters速成班(那些只上幾堂就可以去考試那種)?

因我想為小兒報考Starters, 而小兒的程度又應該OK, 及做過一些Cambridge書的exercises 都OK,  故無需要讀幾個月的course(因太貴了), 但因小兒不知道考試的形式是怎樣, 所以學幾堂是必要的。

if you don't really need to take any training course, you can simply apply for the starters exam through British Council.

Hi gordon,

其實我都知道是可以自行去British Council報名的, 但我担心仔仔唔知道考試形式是怎樣, 所以想給他上幾堂, 等他知道考試是怎樣的, 始終他都只是一個五歲的小BB呢!

我同你case一樣.  我諗住考一次, 成績唔ok, 再報過. 可唔可以一次過報考兩次, 唔想等成續出左再報, 可能要下一季.

The exam is very simple. if your child has done the exercises before, it should be fine to him.

不是擔心英文程度, 而是如何令小朋友調節緊張心情. listening寫唔夠快, 怕小朋友會亂.

Hi Gordon,

Listening 是不是用CD播給考生聽ga? 聽完又是否用CD or 真人問問題呢? 考生是用口答問題定要寫答案ga? 如果要寫就慘lor, 小兒寫字慢吞吞ga!!!

係聽cd, 亞囡都係寫唔夠快, 見到唔識既題目, 又唔識jump下一題.

你仔仔考成點呀? D試題係咪好簡單ga? Listening 是不是用CD播給考生聽ga? 聽完又是否用CD or 真人問問題呢? 考生是用口答問題定要寫答案ga? 如果要寫就慘lor, 小兒寫字慢吞吞ga!!!

HI wynma,

還未足5歲, 到下年7月才考, 現在有時間會在家做exercise. 佢係明白及可以做到, 但太慢, 而且聽cd時十分緊張.   你一定要買份past paper (連cd) 試下先, listening都有唔同種類既問題, 有故事/有是非題.  考試technique要平日提點, 不過佢地未必可以理解. 如果你考左, 上黎report下.  我都係抱住賞試的心情.  我最驚佢寫唔切會大喊. 跟住唔洗考.

我覺得上考試班作用唔大, 而且走來走去, 唔係太化算, 還是當一個嘗試, 考成點都唔重要, 只是損失報名費.

Don't think you need to attend any course lah. I only downloaded a sample paper and let my girl tried at home, you can simply explain to your little one how will it look like.  My girl took the Starter a month ago, not bad.  It's her first time to take a formal test and she told me that you are not allowed to look at each other...seems like it's quite a good experience for her and she told me what's a "test".  I didn't expect she can do it at 5.5 yrs old.  The test is very simple, she only didn't do well in the "reading & writing" part 'coz I didn't expect and train her to write too either. Just try it!

Your daughter told you that "you are not allowed to look at each other", what does it mean? Does it mean that the candidate is not allowed to look at the examiner? & why?

Your daughter already sat for the exam? How's the result?  & How long did the exam take?

Oh, she sat they were sitting in a class/ exam room?! where there were board between each candidate so that you cannot see other's exam paper.

The exam took around 1hr45mins. Can't remember clearly.  You need to bring color pencils for the kids. Trust they are required to use different color pencils to answer accordingly.  

To my surprise, my girl got 13 shileds in total, hence, I think the exam is quite easy 'coz I didn't do much on that.  In fact, she is still in K.3 and didn't do much writing at all.

How long did it take for the release of the result?  The website states it takes 1 month for the result.

Do you think the Starters result is helpful for applying primary school?

我同仔(5.5歲)準備starter時,最難的是要串字(more than 200 words in vocabulary list)又多又難記,串完又忘記,。你哋有無同感?有沒有好的方法可以教我,與我分享。
