I am not soliciting your business Mom5354. I replied because you wanted to know what kind of fees are charged by piano teachers in general, so I replied, because I had time.
All I can say is, even a piano teacher with just GRADE 8 qualifications, can be an excellent teacher. While a PhD in piano performance may be an excellent performer but a terrible teacher.
An excellent teacher to a teenager, maybe a terrible teacher for a 5 year old. Or, a teacher can be excellent in ALL areas like teaching all ages, and performing with superb musicality and skills.
You don't judge people, not just through their qualifications, experience counts alot. I certainly don't have any interest defending myself or to challenge any other piano teachers here with my information.
However, in my opinion, a good piano teacher is one that inspires, motivates, and have ways to make a child/student LOVE playing the piano, and in general become a music lover for life.
Also, I assume you are a mother ? I am shocked and surprised to hear you say "child psychology and music therapy" is useless to performance.
You have a long way to go in researching such areas.
Teaching piano and piano performance is more about PSYCHOLOGY and state of mind more than ANYTHING else. I won't give a lesson here.
Good luck.
