I was a piano teacher with a degree from a university. I understand why people tend to find a 專業 teacher.

However, I wanted to point out that my 啟蒙老師 does not hold any music degree nor diploma. She is an excellent teacher.  

She helped me appreciate music and make practising fun, and she didn't 教壞手.  

I had this teacher till Grade 4. Without her teaching I will never love music to the point that I become a musician.

In short, we do not need to assume all teachers without diploma are bad.

Sometimes, learning music is a character match between the teacher and the student.

yes, I'm seeking a good piano teacher too, but I live in kowloon and I don't want my daughter go very far for the class.  Does anyone has such information?  Pls PM me.

好唔好, 睇你的要求吧?
我仔仔的老師, 是一個很有耐性的老師, 從不會鬧人, 她每次都盡量教幾首歌, 希望小朋友多彈幾首歌, 不會拖慢學生進度.
但她年年加學費, 有時年中彈完一本書, 未曾考試, 她亦要加學費, 最近一次還加了30%.
我和老師說明, 我在家不會"督促"仔仔練琴, (即提醒他老師說要注意的地方), 只會要求仔仔練琴30分鐘, 免得傷害親子關係. 我向老師提議, 因仔仔回家已忘了怎樣彈, 所以每次都不肯練琴, 請老師每次只集中教仔仔1,2首歌, 好讓他彈熟. 不過, 老師雖表示担心仔仔進度慢, 但亦肯試一試我的建議.
這老師, 對我來說, so far so good吧.  雖然她肯接納意見, 肯溝通, 不過, 如果她再未考試就加學費, 我就不能讓仔仔跟她學了

hi,

  我覺得最主要係小朋友學得開唔開心,因為佢學得唔開心,佢會唔積極亦會無心機練琴,亦令小朋友覺得討厭!另外同老師溝通都好重要,本人唔識彈琴,不過會留意老師下堂後嘅評語,係練琴時堤點兒子!(因本人鍾意找一些願意同本人吹水嘅老師!)
