如何想小朋友英文基礎打得好, 有什麼方法?因為我發覺他默書時串字較困難, 其實應給他讀phonics好定公文英文好呢!

Phonics can help dictation a lot. If you want to have good Eng foundation, you must understand all grammar rules. Reading more definitely helps to learn more vocab., better in comprehension.

串字問題, 要睇下小朋友的學習風格, 例如, 若佢好多野講, 又喜歡唱歌的, phonics對他會有很大幫助
如果他喜歡畫畫的, 那英文對他會困難少少, 可能要要在字旁邊畫圖, 幫助記憶, 又或者用故事幫他聯想

agree, this works very well in my case. I guess grammer is for over 14 years old kid.

It is fantastic if the primary school of my kid uses your approach . . . Reading rather than practise and pratise of grammar

本地學校教英文模式最失敗之處就是著重 grammar rules 操練。因為大部份英文老師自己英文根底也不好, 教 grammar rules 及叫學生操 ...

I agree that reading will help a lot.  My P1 kid start to read chapter book.  He can read most of the words but when I ask him about the story, he seems not understand its content.  Is it a matter of the comprehension skill? Any suggestion to improve. Thanks.

Have you let them try Oxford Story Tree? And they have CD and exercise books which can help to improve the comprehension skills.

小朋友學英文是不需要死記及 understand all grammar rules. 因為所有所謂嘅grammar rules實在有太多完全不跟 rules 嘅 exceptions。只會另小朋友容易混淆不清及感迷網。
