Child in the age of 2.5 is in a preoperational stage. The child uses intuitive rather than logical reasoning. In this stage, you better let your child to attend pre-school musical class, e.g. Orff, Yamaha (offered by TomLee). Teachers that teach Orff/Yamaha should have license, they have special training before they can teach the classes. They are professional enough to help your child develop musical/rhythmic sense. This is essential for your child to have private piano lesson. My smallest student is in the age of 3.5. He is attending musical courses offered by 葉氏合唱團. He has good musical sense. He can play little pieces and do some improvisation now.
