Mine is Oct 2006.  We also worried the same so we sent her to pre-nursary to increase her edge.  
Unlike others started pre-nursary at Sep 2007, she started in Nov until she reached two.

How about go K1 in 2010 at a nearby school and then repeat at a desired one next year?  Most schools prefer kids already in school.  Besides, at the following year, your kid is a 'big kid' already.

Agree it's not easy to fight for a nice school this year.  You know, there are more baby born in 2007 than 2006.
