My  daughter is Apr 07 BB, our application # is 23x, I don't have much expectation as the chance is only 1/10......

Hey, how do you know that the vacancies are 54 but not 60?

One of my friend's daughter is now studying N1 and she's born in Nov, so I think you may have higher chance...

It seems that except for the fact that "we value the all-rounded development of our daughter rather than just focusing on her academic achievement", my Apr 07 daughter does not have any other competitive advantage la.....

Yes I also treat this application as Mark Six Game and see how lucky we are.  If no interview, it's normal because 9/10 is really a big big chance ar...Then just apply the coming half day kindergarterns lor....

My girl also knows how to express her needs in simple sentenance (in Cantonese) but she's shy when facing strangers....

Wah, your daughter is very bright wor! Few of my friends' sons/ daughters can't speak a word after 2 yrs old!

But I agree with you, though our daughters can speak sentence, mention names, colours, shapes, they can't show it to the teachers if not being chosen just based on that simple application form plus 1 4R photo.  So it's a pity that not all applicant is offered an interview opportunity.........

Me too!  I'm not a St Paulian, we are not Catholic, no connection, no siblings.....but at least we give our daughter a lucky draw!

It's really good that we can share our feeling before receiving the letter (either accept/ reject) coz it's tough to wait for such a long time........

You know sometimes we can't bother our husband too much.....Men are more target driven than women and don't want to discuss too much on the process...

Me too!

We also moved from TKO to HK Island by end of last year so that it's more convenient for my girl to attend playgroup/ kindergarten.  Then we can save much travelling time as both of us work in Central and spend more time for our girl!

Yes, both my husband and myself can save around 40 mins travelling time each, i.e. 1 hr 20 mins for both of us!

We will also move closer to the school once admitted, so it depends whether it is SPN or another K1 la....We are modern "Mang Mo"...

Thanks so much for your link!  Now I have a clearer picture about the whole process.  Though I'm really anxious to know the results and feel the anxiousness of every parent waiting for SPN result, some parents' comment really help me to relax a bit.  Thanks again!

I think kindergarten interview for a 2 to 3 year old kid really depends on luck as there are too many uncontrollable factors e.g. mood/ condition of our kids, whether the interviewing teacher is nice enough to attract our kids' attention to answer the questions, whether our kid has good feeling about the school environment/ teacher, number of vacancies left for those who don't have any connection etc.  It's really subjective so it's a game to see whether our kid and the school can match each other..

I agree with Jjtseung that if we can't get into SPN, we can try SPK & other well-known kindergartens starting from Sep this year!  So don't put too much pressure on ourselves/ our kid.  No one is in fault, it's just a matching game, I believe!

Me too!  Both my husband and myself have no religious background though our primary/ secondary schools are either Catholic/ Christian.  We don't want to become a Catholic just for the sake of helping our girl to get into the school.  This will distort the intention of becoming a Catholic!

My friend's daughter also had similar bad experience and she cried for minutes!  Luckily her doctor said she's fine after checking.....This kind of accident happens during mid night is really difficult to control as we also need to sleep and we can't look after our kid every minute!

FYI, I find that last year's similar topic has ended the conversion with 24 pages but this year, we're already at P.31 though we're still half way through!  

It's good that we can share various information during this long long waiting period, otherwise it's really a torture for us to wait for the end result.

Hi all,

Can you also give me your advice?

Similar to elmolly, if my girl is not lucky enough to go to SPN, I have to choose between Ming Wai and Rosaryhill N1.

Ming Wai offers an international (mainly English & Mandarin) a.m. class while Rosaryhill is a standard one (Cantonese, English & Mandarin).  I live in North Point so it takes at least 1 hour to & from Rosaryhill if my girl goes to school by school bus.  Apart from losing 1 hour/ day in travelling to & from Rosaryhill, I also worry that my girl will cry a lot during the first few weeks because parents can't accompany the child in school bus.  This is an additional challenge to a 2.5 yr old girl.....

On the other hand, it takes me only 5 mins to go to Ming Wai and I can take my girl to school before going to work.

Rosaryhill has its own primary & secondary school (but I heard that secondary is not good enough) while Ming Wai has no direct access to primary.

What will you choose?  I have been asked to pay Ming Wai's school uniform in Mar 09 and now will have to pay for Rosaryhill school uniform by 25 Apr!  Have you heard of any comment on Ming Wai?  There's not much opinion about Ming Wai in BK.....Please advise.
