My girl is already in P.6. If you want to know about the frequency of quiz or exam, you can visit the school website at www.mcsps.edu.hk and go to the page on school calendar. They provide you updated information. You can also read about the extra-curricular activities of the school.

Position of students, only the top several, will be announced after the Final exam at the end of the school year. If student fails in major subjects, they will be ask to repeat or promote on trial basis, up to the Principal. I have not heard of any girl kicking out of the school.
Most of the subjects are taught in English, like Math, Science. Teachers there have very good English level.

小女今年剛讀小一, 有些問題想向你們請教.

1. 羅校長是否新上任?
2. 於家長會中, 羅校長要求每位小一生每科平均分須在85分以上, 否則, 須要留班或試升. 請問這要求難不難附合? 另外,如果真是不能附合這要求(如相距不要), 是否真是須要留班.
此外, 如果真是要附合這要求, 小朋友及家長會否很吃力呢? 可否說說你們的感受及有沒有些特別技巧及題示給我們這些新生.
3. 學校之Maryknoll writing, 請問筆順是否須要依從, 老師會不會於默書時從旁觀察筆順而作出對扣分數?
4. 學校著重課外活動與否?

Dear Tonks,

1. On paper, only students ranking no.1 to no.80 are surewin into the secondary school. Those ranking no.81 to 136 will have to join the lucky draw. So it's possible that the girl ranking 81 cannot get a place but the girl ranking 136 is successful. However, the school commits that those not lucky (ranking above 136) but with good conduct will be recommended to the secondary school. According to past practices, about 80% of the students could get in secondary school.
2. The principal looks OK to me. I don't have such a feeling after attending the parents session.
3. Not heard of any 一條龍 negotiation.

Dear Tonks,

I think there is no elite class in Maryknoll. The students' performance is quite even. Maybe because they grow up under the system since P.1. Like my girl's class, there are some very brilliant girls (top ranking) also some 'average' students.

My daughter also gets 20 marks but the school collects her profile once submitted though the staff said that it's useless in the 1st round.  Their letter (given to you in the registration day) has already stated that the school will pass the student lists of same mark to Education Authority for central randoming if it is the case.  Therefore, it's really implied that personal profile is unless in the 1st round but show sincereity in 3rd round.

My colleague's daughter (now in P2) in 2002 having 20 marks couldn't got the entry in 1st and 2nd round but finally admitted through connection.

Luckymama, thank you for your response.  When I submit the application form they do not accept my daughter's profile.  I understand you are saying it does not really help in first round but still think it could be better if they accept it, like yours.

Anyway, I hope I could be as lucky as your name.
