因為此區選擇比較多,大家有什麼心水幼稚園 ?

我都想知呀,人人都話報Kentville同St. Catherine's,究竟點好法呢?大家有無真正去了解間kinder適唔適合自己個小朋友?係唔係符合自己既expectations?In case兩間都fail又有甚麼其他選擇?真係好煩!

我暫時吾打算俾囡囡k.1 繼續讀樂基, 樂基只係後備.
其實我都煩緊 ! 我又想囡囡讀 ST. CATHERINE, 但又覺得佢地多班制吾好 ! 又聽朋友講 st. catherine 畢業生 d maths 好差 !
另外我見樂基 K.1 得 7 個學生(下午班), 2 個老師, 好似好好甘 ! 師生比例 1: 3.5 , 照顧得好 ! 可惜樂基又吾出名 !
怕考私小時差少少 !
而樂基 & st. catherine 既學費差不多!

May I know what is St. Catherine's 多班制?  It seems to me that most of my friends send their kids to St. Catherine's if they want them to get admitted to good local schools.  On the Kowloon side, the choice is almost like between St. Catherine's and Kentville but I heard Kentville has more homework and that means both the child and the parents have to work harder.

I am more inclined to sending my girl to an international kindy.  She'll be 3 next year.  I'm not sure if I should apply for St. Catherine's as well.  I called them and they said application form is available by post but you've got to send them a self-addressed envelope, a cheque of $30, the birth cert. of your child and 2 photos.  I don't understand why they require all these when you're only asking for an application form.  Can anyone tell me?

The School will send you back the application form with application no. and stick the photo on with school chop and inteview time. You just bring a filled from to interview. They will not ask you to send the whole application form back.
$30 = application fee.
Brith cert. = checking of date of brith.

多班制 - st. catherine 好似每年都收 20 班 k.1
20 班 x 30 人 = 600 人, 所以 .... 我有點擔心, 是否每班都有好好老師 ??? 而且照顧方面又會是怎樣 ???
而關於application form, 我想是 confirm 報考人數, 我都吾明白點解要甘快 send d 資料俾佢地 !

我打電話問kentville, 他們是沒有"親子旅行"等活動, 須要家長私下安排.  覺得他們只"谷"學生讀書而有好成績.  你們有意見嗎?

Know what?  I looked at the EMB website (Education & Manpower Bureau) and from their 2003/04 figures, St. Catherine's actually had 2,023 students.  The school makes $7.3million a year on tuition fees alone.  Can you imagine?

Not sure how good their teachers are.  But friends of mine whose kids got accepted to Maryknoll, DGS, Good Hope, Ying Wah Boys, etc. sent their kids to St. Catherine's.  It was quite A FEW YEARS AGO though.  Not sure what the standard is now.

I share your worry that kids in schools with big classes don't get the attention they need and so that's why I'm considering international kindergartens.  They're more expensive but that's understandable.

我其實想囡囡係間出名而好既幼稚園, 目的不是想囡囡考到什麼出名既小學, 想幫囡囡有個好基礎, 而將來去到 d 好既小學都吾會甘辛苦.
因為假設囡囡入到好出名既小學 ( DGS, MARYKNOLL, GOOD HOPE), 我擔心我同囡囡會為學業而辛苦, 而我好大機會會報返自己母校(資助 - 天神), 加上我正計劃生第 2 個小朋友, 我怕一家人為了小朋友既學業而出現分歧, 我想小朋友開開心心, 有個快樂童年 !

我阿b仲好細, 暫時都未須要考學校住. 但我真係好想知究竟d名校好似你地成日講既根德園, 國際呀, 要考入去有咩基本條件呀?

聽你地咁講, 我就更加想知要考入o黎類學校既基本要求.

I agree with you that as parents, we want our kids to have a good education and, have a happy childhood.  Sometimes I think that children going to a famous school may not necessarily benefit from it.  So it all depends what your objectives are.  I think your school 天神 is a good school.  My old colleague moved from Tsuen Wan to Hunghom for 天神 too.

其實我都覺得真係要起碼自己去睇吓, 接觸吓, 先知間學校適唔適合自己小朋友. 所以我覺得考多幾間都無妨, 學校揀我哋時, 我哋亦揀學校. 宜家唔考, 即係冇機會去了解多啲, 到時咪仲唔知點算好!

多班同小班我都係覺得冇問題, 最緊要係師生比例.  St. Catherine同根德有咁多班, 但唔會因為咁而少啲先生睇住啲小朋友, 相反我哋可以樂觀啲咁諗, 佢哋會仲多啲資源!

固然佢哋一年有咁多人讀, 數目上入到名校既緊係多啲. 但每年都有咁多人想入, 一定有佢哋既好處. 點都好過去嗰啲唔夠學生既學校, 容乜易因為收唔夠學生, 無端端要執笠架!
