終於買左個發聲地球儀比亞仔學地理

I guess I saw a similar one at Toysrus, but didn't buy it.  We only bought a globe and a bilingual world map.  The map is affixed at the bottom of the door.  Since there are also national flags printed around the four sides of the map in which our kid is pretty much interested, we later also bought a book listing the flags and demographics of many countries.

At first, I thought my kid only loved to learn about a country in terms of its location on the map and its national flag. However, it's much more than that, I'm afraid. Today during lunch, he told me that there were deserts in Australia.  My wife and I thought as if he learned this "fact" elsewhere (we also didn't know if Australia had deserts).  Then my kid ran to the map, and urged me to look at where he pointed.  He said in English "Great Sandy Desert" and "Great Victoria Desert".  I was amazed!  He really reads from the map too at his free time at home b'cos we haven't taught him "geography" up to that level and we are quite sure his K1 curriculum does not cover "map reading" like this.

係啊，就係＄10張好似妳描述的一樣。其實我仔仔開始時都不是很熱衷，triggering point可能係因我們去過一些國家同城市旅行，引發他的興趣（他尤其雀躍當提到從香港搭飛機（用手指指住點飛）飛到有關目的地），跟住我太太就介紹該國的國旗，如是者他把國家與國旗連繫上，老婆亦會趁機介紹該國是屬於哪一個洲，國旗的顏色及特徵等。仔仔亦會要求知道該國的中英文名稱。

老婆每天跟他「玩」認識一個國家同國旗，他亦樂此不疲。當然，我們曾去過的地方有限，但這親子遊戲已令仔仔上癮一樣。後來，在圖書館看到一本印有不同國旗及介紹該國資料的圖書，心想把它借回家，以方便進行親子遊戲，可惜該書是參考書不能外借，因此當在屋苑流動書攤看到該書平售，老婆便買回家方便施教。

相比樓主提到的發聲地球儀，我們買的會較遜色，起馬沒有國歌（希望遲一點通過互聯網學吧）。但價錢就平很多，若孩子懂得自發學習，相信一幅地圖所列載的資料亦應較豐富。

我很同意cornelius, 學習未必要很貴的玩具或器材.只要引發到小朋友的學習興趣,加上不斷反覆溫習都可以有很好的成績.

我so far真係好體會到 learning everywhere 的重要性. 例如我教亞仔學數字,我唔單止用一種教具:1 ...

在小朋友年幼時, 父母必定是孩子最重要的老師.  我亦十分認同 learning everywhere這說法, 對小朋友來講係最自然不過的.

As mentioned by a parent, I also incline to use something that can be touched.  Therefore, I am using a traditional globe, a big map and a book that lists information on different countries (including their national flags and demographics such as population, language and points of interest).

Since my kid is only 3 years old, I need to limit his time spent on TV/PC.  Not only is TV/PC addictive, it also gradually impairs the vision of kids.

I just did an eye check yesterday.  Thank God that the figures are not bad: 左眼100度散光, 右眼75度散光+50度近視.  i.e. virtually I still don't need to wear glasses now until I develop 老花 later.  I wish my kid inherits my vision that is not to be spoiled by too much TV/PC.  After all, he would have a lot of occasions of using PC as he grows up.
