I went to a Chinese secondary school and did world history at A-level.  I did find that it was far more efficient to study A-level history in English.

Agree with ttamy123.  I can't stand  恐怖伊凡, prefer Ivan the Terrible all the time.

因為喜歡 “Ivan the Terrible” ,不喜歡「恐怖伊凡」而選擇讀英文本世史,這是很個人化的事,是感性的,無對與錯。

In my case (and it was true among many of my classmates), it was much more efficient to study A-level history in English.  If we had to study A level history in Chinese, we'd have to put in 10x of efforts and time.  To learn western history or western stuff in a western language was a lot more natural and easy to us.

Try listen to the English version of 牡丹亭.

As the level of the debates has dropped to such a level, I will refrain from making further comments.  Just one last thing to add - the fact the one finds it difficult to study history in English does not necessarily mean that other people (one's own daughter included) share the very same difficulty.

Dear uncleedward and July,

Totally agree with what you said.  Leisurely joy is nothing compared to the joy from success out of tears and sweats.
