TSL & St. Margaret

Hi,

My son is lucky to be accepted by TSL & SMC. Both are good school but both are not near my living place. Can I know which school you will choose?

Just pass by and a little thought to add here...

1.  TSL: My colleaque's son was the graduate from TSL.  And I have seen him grow in TSL and he was very happy in TSL and was sent to one of the best secondary shools in KLN.  Besides, the PLK's backup is very good.  They have the quality.

2.  SMC: My neighbor's daughtor is studing there in P4.  Frankly speaking, her English standard is much better than my colleques's son.  But it is not fair to compare.  From what I heard, it is more like a international school feeling in SMC.

3.    Just my own view, you should go to the school after the school is over and listen to what the studnets are talking to each other, how they behave and what they are talking and think if this is what you like your child to be.

4.  I am not the parents of these two schools now but I definite will let my kids to apply for these two.

我囡囡小二左右去睇小朋友電影已經偏向睇英文片, 而且一般都自己聽得明, 唔駛再特別問我地.

中文普通話發音標準, 聽既能力都好好, 因為中文係用普通話教, 但係始終係英文小學, 認識既中文詞彙我自己覺得可能唔夠中文小學多, 不過始終香港係中國人社會, 中文詞彙慢慢會係日常生活中可以累積到返嚟.

其實SMC同一般官津小學課程差唔多, 英文程度稍為高D, 只係有D家長鐘意學校讀高一級同埋"谷"D既話, 咁SMC一定唔係佢地杯茶.  我自己較為鐘意小朋友慢慢學及無太大壓力下吸收, 打好語文底子, 將來升中會更易應付.

主要都你視乎家長自己想要咩.

Thanks for all the precious advices from all mothers. I will make the decision fast & release the offer as soon as possible. I know there are many 'waiting' mothers.

少功課唔等如學唔到野, 小學階段最重要培養學生學習既態度.

TSL因沒有中學, p5/6 要同全港學生爭排名, 無辨法唔谷. 至於功課多與少功課好睇小朋友, 有d小朋友眼明手快, 真係好易應付.

TSL係保記出品中, 可說其中最少功課既一間.

我兩位朋友的女兒分別讀黃大仙兩間保小(何x南 & 錦x小學) , 平衡每日12樣功課, 假期再多, 嘆為觀止. 其中一個讀完小一已走了.  

如果係小學階段, 唔想為幾分追逐既家長, 選間有中學既小學, 真係輕鬆好多. 小朋友有多些時間做自己喜歡做既野.

可是家長們也應盡早為孩子决定... 這兩所學校都有一張很長的waiting list!!! 唔好hold 住其他一心一意入校小朋友o既位啦.

TSL 相對功課繁忙, SMC 相對少 ; 後者有自已中學, 會讀得輕鬆d.  TSL要谷成績, 才有好派位 ;  TSL 近年 既 band 1 大約可以去到50%左右, 不再是從前政府分配到的 1/3.

這兩年中學派位, 都是TSL未有人氣之前, 所收學生. 我街坊女兒讀小6, 當年TSL係易入好多. 這兩年人氣急升, 相信可以再進一步.

如果進取+緊張型家長, 選TSL ; SMC 有12年時間慢慢去學習 , 而小學部較多外籍老師,  學習環境會輕鬆d.

睇 "家長" 适合讀邊間學校.

**TSl 班班都係有32/3(今年小一), 開學時每班人數貼係操場.

當年我都係係SMC同TSL之間揀, 結果揀左SMC.

SMC行小班, TSL仍然係30幾人一班
SMC外籍老師人數比TSL多.
SMC中學現時仍是收外來生, 今年先係頭一年自己小學生升上中一, 所以相信幾年後當大部份中學部既學生都係小學部學生升上去, 成績會好唔同.  現時中學部既老師好多都係新請,而且仲有外籍老師, 跟當年已經好唔同.

I am a parent of SMC and I do not find the school commercial

They don't mention much about their history in their website. I remember it was a girl's school in Sham Shui Po (correct me if I'm wrong). They've changed to DSS which has more autonomy but the way they run is commercial.  Not sure about the turnover of teachers. Students may include different nationalities.
