What is IB course ?

Volunteer service is a good training, no matter local or overseas.

In IB, they prefer students take initiative to organise the service and not "join" a volunteer service to get the service hours. The major difference is quality vs. quantity. CAS has some unique requirement.

Say, if your kids join World Vison or Red Cross for sometime as volunteer. They identify a specific need in the local community and share with their team leader, they recruit members and do fund raising, start a small program and benefit the community. So no need to Vietnam.

But no need to undermind some kids have special exposure in Vietnam or Africa. I focus on exposure and self-initative, not $$$.

IB has continuous assessment (CA) in the school and public examination papers. Each subject has different % of CA around 25~30%.

You can go to ibo.org to see how they assess students and moderate the standard internationally. Don't be mislead by a biased comment? The girl only talked about CA and she can't finish the IBDP.

I have many friends' kids did IB in LPCUWC, they all did extremely well and got into HKU - Law, Architecture; Durham - Japanese and Business......
