What is difference between SAT and AP?
SAT is used for applying universities in both US and Canada. Usually SAT I reasoning test with two/three SAT II subject tests are needed for applying universities. SAT I reasoning test consists of two parts: English and Math. Within English sections, there are Reading, Writing, and Vocabulary. The reading section is actually a comprehension section. And the vocab section, you have to really prepare for it, since most of the vocabs are too big of a word you won't be using in daily life.
As for the SAT II subject tests, there are tests on each subject, like physics, chemistry, biology, history, etc.
As for AP, it is called advancement placement. This is actually the first year college course. This is something nice to have when applying to the universities. By enrolling in an AP course and taking the equivalent AP test, you are telling the universitiy your standard is at college year one level. |
