Learning Piano

May I know normally when can kids  start to take piano exam?  At what age?  Will they take grade 1 first?  How many years should they learn the piano before taking grade 1 exam?

in my opinion, children should not start learning piano too early. 5-6 would be better.
About the exam, it depends on the kids. Some of my students can have their first exam within a year but some of them might need longer time. And, some of them don't learn piano for taking exam at all.

1級好少人考o家, 我miss話佢教過咁多學生, 係一開頭o係琴行教o個陣教過一個考1級咁大把......

我小朋友一考考2級, 7歲考, 學左一年多o的, 而家10歲, o岩o岩考左5級~

Agreed.  My kid had his first exam and it's Grade 5 after he learnt piano for 3 years.  It gives him more time to enjoy music, otherwise, he needs to practice exam pieces and it'd dampen his passion.

I don't think so. At least the examiners also don't like this unique trend in HK.

5、6歲都好細個啦 ，鋼琴係大型樂器，太細個handle唔到。

其實學鋼琴都好需要學習基本功, 千祈唔好為考試而考琴...最緊要小朋友享受彈琴的樂趣及完成樂曲的成功感..咁先至會彈得好....

其實冇話幾多歲開始學琴係最適合(咁最起碼都要識ABC啦）！最緊要係小朋友對呢方面有冇興趣，有興趣嘅早D學都無妨(3,4歲)！

三四歲都確實是太早了﹐無必要這麼早開始。

如果小朋友真係對音樂有興趣嘅，佢喺呢個年幾都會要求學，唔通唔俾佢學？
我幾年前都覺得囝囝得3歲幾太細唔適合學琴，佢每次見哥哥出去學琴都喺門口喊住話要學，就係咁等咗半年，4歲先開始學，學咗幾堂我已經覺得好內疚！

我明白您的意思﹐我兒子也是未夠三歲就不住的表示想彈鋼琴﹐而我最後等到他滿三歲真的沒辦法不教他了﹐但由於我自己是專業又全職的鋼琴和小提琴老師﹐我對他(以及我的其他學生)的要求都相當高﹐他也對自己很有要求﹐但始終他年紀太小了﹐手部發展還未成熟﹐所以頭一個月都有點辛苦﹐但我也堅持每天陪他和教他彈琴﹐要他重複地練習﹐並一定要正確地按鍵和用力﹐一兩個月後上了軌道﹐我才放心下來﹔如今他三歲半了﹐仍然保持每天主動練習大約一至個半小時﹐進展也十分好 。

您小兒子現在多大? 最近進度如何? 可以分享一下嗎?

他剛剛8歲，學琴進度都OK！
