terryeric,

just one comment.  You need to avoid using word "failure" in front of your daughter.  Better wordings might be "Cannot or NOT YET".

Thx for your reminder.
I always bear this in mind. I usually use 唔識/做唔到/欠少少 and encourage her 咁會仲好d, you are/this is  perfect (this is the word I used recently since she has just learnt it)

Yukico,

Thx for your sharings.  This is true that the students there like reading very much.  They enjoy reading and I can see they "bury" their heads into the world of books.  Besides this characters, they are truely smart with smiling eyes.  Proficient English skills is a must, that's why the school has tested this in the 1st interview, the kids need to be familiar with English environment.  The 1st interview was playful and fun to my daughter, of course, she did not know she's being observed and evaluated.  Kids are with different background, Mrs Dai is the headmistress and of course, she's the one to pick the right candidates, we can't deny that some kids from rich families also acquir the characters that Mrs Dai are happy with.

Terry Eric,
Your daughter is great!  Self-motivation and being initiative are the most important learning attitude.

I also know that Eng proficiency is important in DG, however, my girl insisted that she was not interviewed in English, not even 1 question!
They just played games and retold the story in Chinese....

I felt so strange abt this.

HappyJolly,

I like your name very much!  Was your daughter's session conducted in English and Cantonese, I mean both.  If this is the case, I think the teachers should be able to notice the kids' responsiveness to English environment.

That's strange......
Brief rundown of my daughter's session (Cantonese medium):

1st: a game of "adventure", conducted in both English / Cantonese (to test kids' listening skills in English and level of adventurous)
2nd: a game of "drawing" (to test kids' listening in English and also some simple math problem-solving, really simple but a bit intelligent), read a book to the teacher(English or Chinese)
3rd: retell a story in Cantonese (yes, it's the little red hood)
then Good-bye and meet me.
