Just checked from the SHCC website and found this:

"...German is now offered as an academic subject to all S1 students who are highly motivated in learning the language...."

So I think it is an elective subject rather than compulsory.

Since I cannot find it from their curriculum yet.  You may refer to this link:

德文係新開的選修科目，只有最叻F班同學至可以揀，名額好似得十幾個，由中一讀到中三
