港同英語水準如何?

各位現讀港同家長:

我知港同普通話小準極高,唔知英語水準如何呢?可否分享吓. thanks a lot.

I wish to know it, too.  Since it is a Chinese Primary school, I've heard that the English standard is not high.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

其實你地覺得點為之 High English Stardard 呀? 我仔仔小三, 我相信他的英文程度唔會比出面的學校差喎。

好難比較....亦唔識比較
俾個事例參考: 女女舊年小4, 英文堂其中有用ROALD DAHL教學(要睇完本書做GROUP PROJECT), 小4睇ROALD DAHL係深定淺, 或者大家可以去睇睇本書去了解

Agree, it's difficult to compare.
Last year when my girl was in P2, her English teacher said he would not focus too much on gramma because he wanted to encourage them to read and write. He didnt want to scare the children with gramma and spelling ...etc. He wanted children to enjoy English language. I think he has the right approach.
This year, she is in P3, they are more focus on gramma and tenses.
In general, I think their English standard is not bad.

What about English Standard in term of Oral? I mean, are the student not afraid to talk to foreigner in English (felt at ease)?
Is there any NET in HKUGA?

如果你有留意 iwff 之前個 thread, 會見到今年港同學生被選為小太空人, 我相信如果英文差, 又或者唔敢講英文的人, 應該好早階段已經被人 out 左出黎.
根據Charlotte_mom 講, 應該有四個NET 再加一D part time. 如果有錯, 請其他媽咪/daddy 補充.

Thanks for giving us so many usefull information about HKUGA, If i have time i will attend HKUGAC's open day on the coming Saturday to gain more information.

You do think my question funny? Why? I always think that laugage is used for communication, as long as you are not afraid to use it for communicate, you are able to learn from the mistake and improve. If you afraid to use it until you are very good, you will never able to use it. My boss is from UK and I don't think he care much about the grammer. Little mistake / grammer error doesn't really matter, I don' t need perfection.
I'm happy to know that your school are able to provide such a environment. At the moment, HKUGA is one of my favourite (but my bb still have years to go to P1 ).

有沒有人認識國內的制度?
可能有,也可能無,而我好好彩之前在國內長期居留工作7年
國內每一樣資格都有考試可以考的
英語4級,6級,8級
照常理,英語6級是可以跟外國人無障礙對答
但現實是,大部份不可能,他們照考試而考,garmmer及聽寫都非常好
但就是不肯說出口
所以我認同你的擔心,也同意,其實外國人怕你不出聲多過你說錯了文法
只不過,敢唔敢說是看小朋友的性格
學校鼓勵當然有幫助,但小朋友是否只在學校強迫的時間才說,或夠膽上街對外國人也說,就是另一件事

你令我諗起我舊公司的一位上司, 佢以前响大銀行度做到好高級, 因為同我老闆係朋友, 所以比我老闆請佢入股做我舊公司小股東.
佢寫到一手好靚的英文文章, 公司好多英文文件都要比佢過目, 但係佢一出口同外國人講電話, 真係嚇鬼死你, 口震震, 不斷 er ~ er ~ er ~~ I  ~ I ~ I ~~~ ...唔知, 仲以為佢唔識英文添 ..

唔好誤會, 我話funny既意思, 係因為你問小朋友會唔會"felt at ease"
而comprehensive review個標準答案竟然係 "They are quite at ease in using both English and Putonghua in class as well as in daily activities outside classroom"
好似真係答緊你條問題咁, 所以我覺得好有趣

ha, you are right, the wording are similar. I guess both the reviewer & myself think that whether the student can speak comfortably is very important. I'm looking for school with environment where my kid can encourage to talk (without feeling conscious about the grammer/vocabulary, and hence happy to use & learn). I especially don't want my kid being become those ppl like mimi1102 & ziyi described.
