放棄 SPC 選 港同, 會有人支持我嗎?

不過我都係吾好係道高談闊論羅,指指點點, 免得踩親人地....

既中肯又理性,   老實講, Y2KChild, 本是沒必要去長篇大論去給予樓主意見, 大家只不過是網絡上的陌生過客, 既然樓主開得 topic 去尋求意見既, 他的一點心意及苦心亦值得樓主再去思量一下.
當然最終决定都係樓主.

首先很欣賞樓主凡事從女兒着想出發，希望為女兒找到合適女兒特質的學校，而不是盲從品牌。

樓主 started a topic for discussion and sharing, of course some will support SPC, some will support HKUGA, if not, she won't start this topic.  No need for some people to feel defensive & offensive when the comments are not your cup of tea.

Hi my dearest friend,

I think I know who you are; I do believe you have recieved all the valuable comments up to now, you should have the right decision for yourself or I shoud say for your lovely daughter.

No matter what is the outcome wll be, I hope this is purely your own decision but not affected by other parent who has prejudice to SPC.  Chance is only given out once for a life, please really reconsider and take action!!  It will definately affect your lovely daughter's first step in her school life.

My 2 cents worth.

I do agree the opportunity cost for giving up SPC for HKUGA is just too high. I am not saying HKUGA is not a good school as my son is now in HKUGA PS.

But I do not agree with the comments like academically SPC is much much better than HKUGA. For instance, if you got an A in last year exam and I got a B in this year exam, we cannot say that you are more knowledgable than me. It is just cannot be compared.

Without any doubt to choose between SPC and HKUGA, a lot of people will look into the "brand" and also the tradition of academic excellence of the school. Think in this way, if I am not wrong, Hang Seng School of Commerce (恒生商學書院) was not a top school like today at the time when I was still a student; when HKUST (科大) was new, would people take Poly or CituU at that time because they have the history to prove?

No one know will HKUGA be the school of choice for most of the parents in the future, or SPC's reputation would erode in the future. You are the one who knows your daughter well, if she is better to fit into the HKUGA's type of educational system, go for it. The choice is on you and there will not be any regret to choose either one of them.

I know someone who gave up seat of SPC for another school of different education philosphy with more free learning environment.  They have strong rationale behind their choice, just like those who choose to stay at SPC have their own rationale too.  So it's really a matter of personal choice.

小兒今年升中一, hkuga 的確不會是 band 1 生的選擇, 亦想不出它可以吸引 band 1 生之原因
如果想要活動教學, 我會選赤柱聖士提反

If i were you, i would only give up SPC  for DGJS; however, it is still subject to my kid's preference as SPC is really a good school with proven academic achievement and moral development. I am a current parent of SPK.

Schools evolve/change over the years.  Some get better.  Some get worse.  Some just become different.
If you ask old boys and old girls of some othe most renowned schools, you may be surprised to know how many of them actually steer away from their alma mater.
People always have different priorities.  Certain things, I care much more than others.  Certain things, I won't worry as much.
There is really no black and white answer for these kind of stuff.

綜合所有 "客觀" 條件都應該是 SPC 好過港同的. 不過小朋友是否能適應到SPC都好重要.  如果SPK都已經讀得不開心, 上到小學會否更難生存呢?

各人有各人支持的立場，如果係自己個囡，我就選擇SPC啦。

結果是哪間, 對我來說也不痛不癢

SPC 是一線學校, 這 "個別事件" 成功為 HKUGA "升呢" 不少呢 !
