I also have the same comment as 小曳人, so far 救世軍 should be the only one I heard need to start apply that early. Rest just need to apply one year before they join. Normally you can start searching your favorite school by Aug for next academic year :)
Theoretically, you can still submit your application this year and just go PN until he reach 2yrs old (which is Dec 2012). However if your bb born in Dec - which means he's 'small bb', most of the schools won't consider them especially the famous one as they'll pick the 'big bb', competition is really keen. For your case, most parent will wait for 2013 academic year
