Yes, a very good choice of cards with words and photos/pictures separately printed on both sides of the cards!

We also adopted a similar approach, and read with our kid every day at bedtime.  Reciprocally, the first thing our kid does every morning is to pick some books to read.  We stopped using the word cards until he confidently builds up the reading habit (which is our ultimate goal).  Fyi, my kid could read (and understand most of the time) Oxford Reading Tree books (even up to Stage 9) when he was in K2.  He loves reading Chinese kids novels even more such as 老鼠記者, 特務喜喜羊, etc starting the summer between K2 and K3.

Keep up the effort. Your kid will definitely benefit from the joy of reading!  :)

我d字卡係一面圖一面字既, 教完字先教圖, 佢就會圖同字都認得.

而家我show圖/實物佢會講出中英文名稱, show中文字佢會讀出個中文字, 跟住我問佢"英文係咩?"佢又會翻譯比我聽, 反之亦然.

有時我唔用字卡考佢, 就咁 ...
