First thing is to know their language. Do you already speak Finnish or Swedish? Most of courses in Finland and Sweden (or simply other European countries that do not use English as their official language) require foreign students to have some sort of proficiency in their language

Yes, there indeed are courses that are conducted in English. However, those are just minority of the whole. Let's assume that you get into a course conducted in English in, say, Sweden. I can assure you that you will have troubles getting around as non-native English speaking Europeans are not always willing to speak English, even when you look like a foreigner obviously.

I lived in Europe before and that's what I noticed. It is a big difficulty to just get around when you don't know their language at all. Just imagine a non English speaking foreigner going to mainland China and knows no Chinese at all...

My friend's daughter came back HK several yrs ago after finishing her undergraduate course in Finland. She did not know Finnish before she went to Finland. I don't know her A level result but her mother said that she was admitted by local u but chosed to go to Finland.

However, the competition for entry for her undergraduate course are highly competitive. She said that over 400 applicants competed for two places available for her subject for non-residents. Also, the living cost in Finland is very high though she did not have to pay school fee.
