Totally agreed with u !!
My gal is studying K1 in KV, I dont mind if they have no school picnic or whatever...since we hang out with my gal every weekends and of coz joined the FB group.
However, KV do have their good training program to the kids...we only receive the notice on every syallbus on what they have taught in the school, there is no chance u can practice at home in advance, but, my gal remember every single Chinese or English words ...shapes, songs been learnt at the school...very impressive.
And, especially after the 1st parents meeting, the teacher said there is not necessary to do the revision at home with kids, coz the school will do the job, we may only have to add additional knowledge to the kids if we want to apply for the "branded" school, anyhow, we do not have to worry abt their works at school.
One of my frd..her kids was graduated fm KV, she said they never hv to worry abt their homework, since their kids will do their work automatically after school.
As from K3, the kids will be trained to write the handbook by themselves....the preparation to P1.
And, seriously, I do not think KV has lots of HW...my frd's daughter is studying in 聖心 (HK side), her gal was asked to do the study report on the first wk of class...so comparing KV and 聖心, I think KV is teaching all the basic in the 1st term, then, will move forward in 2nd term, so the kids can handle it better without any pressure.
My gal has very little discilpine and a very active gal, but she loves going to school...so, I m glad I did not choose the wrong school for her 
P.S: I did not pick this school, because I was planing to go for the famous school, I love the foundation they could provide to the kids during kindergarten.
